Thank you so so much to this fantastic group of kids and staff. A beautiful small school raised €2500 for us to build a house for a deserving family. Aisling one of the staff volunteered with us last February. An absolutely amazing lady. We are so grateful to the school for allowing the fundraising to take place and to everyone involved and maybe in four years time some of the current 6th class will be with us on one of our trips.

We did it, we’re home. Don’t know how two weeks can seem like a year on one had but seems to fly by at the same time. Huge thanks to our volunteers, their supporters and the lovely people in Cara who accommodated 38 of us without complaint. Asanteni sana

Second last day. A day of finishing up jobs, last minute shopping from the Masai ladies, the annual, much anticipated draw for the Masai ladies, spending as much time as possible with the Cara kids before we have to say goodbye. A football match on the hill, wazangu v Cara girls team. Still emptying cases, meetings, hellos and goodbyes, lollipops, treats, hugs and plenty of fun. Art and crafts followed by a very energetic disco. The two weeks are nearly over and hopefully our volunteers got what they were looking for.

Today was the day we handed over four new houses to four very happy grateful families. These people have nothing yet they gave us food, sodas and gifts. What they don’t have in material things the make up for it in kindness and love. Singing, dancing, praying, children appearing out of every corner of every field. Huge excitement. We couldn’t do this without the support of people who donate to build a house. I hope the photos can give the sense of happiness we felt today. It’s raining at the moment and it’s so good to know that four families are warm and dry in their new homes.
After dinner we had prayers followed by a disco with the Cara kids, some nail varnish was applied to those who don’t have school tomorrow and temporary tattoos were a big hit.

Sad goodbye to Bev from Australia who left before us. We will miss you Bev. More painting, digging, singing, dancing. Beautiful views and beautiful people, lollipops, bubbles and footballs. Nearing the end of our trip but all is good
