“Today, we can cultivate up to three times a year. We’ve never had this before,” says Armène, a farmer and mother of twelve in the Anosy region of southern Madagascar.

Where drought once defined life, water now flows again. Through 's BIOCOM project, funded by the Republic of Korea through KOICA, communities near Parc national d’Andohahela are transforming arid lands into fertile fields.

By building a new mini-dam, restoring forests, and strengthening local water governance, the project is helping hundreds of families achieve food security and self-reliance. Farmers like Armène and Todisoa Herbert are now leading efforts to manage water sustainably and protect the forest - ensuring that ecosystems and livelihoods thrive together.

This initiative echoes a larger success for : the Forêts humides de l’Atsinanana were removed from the List of World Heritage in Danger last year, underscoring the country’s commitment to ecosystem restoration and sustainable development.

When ecosystems are restored, so too are dignity, security, and opportunity!

For Sudanese photojournalist and documentary filmmaker Mohamed Zakaria, reporting on conflict has never been just a profession. After documenting violence in Darfur, being injured while reporting, and eventually forced into exile, he continues to tell the stories of civilians affected by Sudan's ongoing war.

Zakaria is helping ensure that a crisis many describe as a "forgotten war" is not forgotten at all. His work speaks to the resilience of Sudanese journalists who continue reporting despite violence, displacement, censorship and intimidation.
