STATEMENT ON THE ROMA CONSTITUENCY ELECTION RESULT

I wish to thank the people of Roma Constituency, my supporters, and every voter who participated in the 13th August 2026 General Election.
I am deeply grateful to the people of Roma who placed their trust in me and entrusted me with the responsibility of serving them.
I have taken note of the announced results. However, I can not accept them as a true reflection of the will of the people of Roma, given the serious irregularities witnessed and documented throughout the entire electoral process.
Regardless of who wins an election, I believe that the integrity of the democratic process must be protected and the will of the people respected. In this election, this standard was not met, and I therefore can not regard the announced results as credible.
To the people of Roma: Thank you for your trust, your courage, and your support.

ROMA CANDIDATE RAISES CONCERNS OVER CAMPAIGN ACCESS AT UNZA

Resolute Party candidate Chilando Chitangala contesting the Roma Constituency has raised concerns over what she describes as unequal access to campaign at the University of Zambia.

Speaking after witnessing the arrival and securing of ballot papers for Lusaka District, the candidate says she is satisfied with the storage arrangements and the transparency of the process.

She says stakeholders were taken through the storage facility and informed that Lusaka had received 40 pallets of ballot papers, with Roma Constituency allocated four pallets.

The candidate says she would now monitor the process until the ballot papers are dispatched to polling stations ahead of the August 13 elections.

However, she used the opportunity to raise a separate concern regarding her campaign activities in Kalingalinga Ward, where the University of Zambia is located.

She alleges that she was prevented from campaigning at the university, which she says is also a polling station with more than 11,000 registered voters.

Ms Chitangala claims that while she has been denied access, her UPND opponent has been allowed to campaign within the university.

She says her lawyers have since written to the University of Zambia Vice-Chancellor and the Electoral Commission of Zambia over the matter.

The candidate argues that all parliamentary candidates should be afforded equal opportunities to engage voters, regardless of their political affiliation.
