Advancing Gender Responsive and Inclusive Vocational Training in Kenya
CRAWN Trust, represented by our Executive Director, Daisy Amdany, and Programmes Lead, Winfred Kimeu, is engaging key stakeholders in one on one technical meetings to strengthen gender mainstreaming and social inclusion in Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) run by county governments.
Building on gender dialogues conducted across Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Busia and Siaya, as well as at the national level, these engagements focus on addressing policy and practice gaps affecting access to quality vocational training.
Among the key advocacy priorities is adequate and timely disbursement of capitation funds to support training materials, infrastructure, institutional operations and uninterrupted learning.
Through the Kenya Blue Economy Skills Training (KBEST) Programme, these efforts seek to influence policies and practices that create more equitable training opportunities, particularly for young women and marginalised groups.
The goal is to ensure vocational training institutions are adequately resourced, inclusive and equipped to support young Kenyans in gaining skills for sustainable livelihoods.
