Our team is getting ready for Inua Binti Mathare, including reviewing the curriculum to ensure the 3 month program responds to the real needs and goals of young women in Mathare.

If you’re a young woman aged 18–24, or a teen mother living in Mabatini, Hospital Ward, or Mlango Kubwa, and have been out of school for a year or more and are not currently working, keep applying!

What happens when young people are given a safe space to ask the questions they’re usually told not to ask?

Last week, PaaMoja Initiative facilitated Sekete: The Real S*x Talk with Canada-Mathare Education Trust scholars—a space where young people could ask questions, challenge myths and have honest conversations about s*x, relationships, consent, health and decision-making.

Sekete is not about telling young people what decisions to make. It is about giving them the right information and a safe space to think, question and make informed choices for themselves.

The sessions are youth-led, making it easier for participants to connect, speak openly and learn from facilitators closer to their age. Through open discussions, interactive activities and real questions, we create conversations that go beyond the classroom.

Because let’s be honest, in many African homes, these are not conversations young people can easily have with their parents. And while friends may have answers, how accurate is the information they share?

We believe informed young people are better equipped to make conscious and constructive decisions—decisions that strengthen their mental, emotional and social wellbeing and contribute to a safer Mathare and a safer society.

Inua Binti Mathare ! Applications are open!

Are you a young woman aged 18–24, or a teen mother, living in Mabatini, Hospital Ward, or Mlango Kubwa? Not in school for a year or more, and not currently working?

Inua Binti Mathare wants to walk with you. Over 3 months, you'll gain real skills entrepreneurship, employability, basic computer skills, tailoring, soap making and more to help you build a livelihood on your own terms.

This is a joint program by PaaMoja Initiative , Oasis Mathare , and Dare to Dream Africa.

After a productive day of great conversations and ticking off important agendas with the PaaMoja Initiative team ,wrapped it up the best way possible.

Big shout out to Nyam Nyam Dishes for the warm hospitality, delicious meals, and exceptional service. Great work deserves a great meal 😅.

Growth is most meaningful when it is driven by collaboration.

We had the privilege of engaging with Michael, Najib, and Mary from the Children's Rights and Violence Prevention Fund , whose visit to the Korogocho PVAC Cluster at PaaMoja Initiative ibase created space for honest conversations, shared experiences, and collective problem solving. The exchange challenged us to think critically about how we can continuously strengthen the way we serve children, families, and our communities.

Beyond reviewing progress, the engagement encouraged practical improvements in leadership, accountability, financial stewardship, and internal systems that will enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of our work. It reaffirmed that strong organizations are better positioned to deliver meaningful and lasting change.

Every partnership that invests in learning brings us one step closer to a future where every child grows up in a safe, nurturing environment. Together with our partner Slum Child Foundation , we remain committed to advancing child protection and creating communities where children and adolescents have the opportunity to thrive.
