STATEMENT BY THE UNION OF KENYA CIVIL SERVANTS(UKCS)

To All Our Members and the Nation at Large,

It is with profound concern and unwavering sense of civic duty that the Union of Kenya Civil Servants (UKCS) addresses the nation regarding the reprehensible, egregious, and abhorrent events that unfolded in Kileleshwa, where a lawful public participation forum was violently disrupted.

During this unfortunate incident, two dedicated public officers-Chief Joyline of Kileleshwa and Chief Catherine of Kilimani- were subjected to intimidation, humiliation, vilification, and physical assault while faithfully discharging their constitional mandate and serving the public in accordance with the law.

The Union strongly condemns these acts of violence and lawlessness, which not only undermine the authority and dignity of public officers but also threaten the principles of democracy, public participation, and the rule of law that are enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya.

The Secretary General Mr. Lawrence Nyaguti, addressed this matter on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, at the UKCS Headquarters in Nairobi. He was accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Confat Ademba, and the Union Lawyer, Mr. Rashid Wangatia.

The Union stands in solidarity with the affected officers and calls upon the relevant authorities to conduct thorough investigations and ensure that all those responsible are held accountable.

In Solidarity UKCS.
