On 27th June 2026, we hosted a Men's Mental Health Camp, a real, honest space for men and young boys to heal and speak up. πŸ’™πŸ§
Teachers from St. Bernards College, Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί flew in that morning and came straight to us; zero jet lag, full energy. Incredible. πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ”₯
The next day we shared Mass at St. Michael's, Lang'ata β›ͺπŸ™πŸ½, then unpacked culture, education, and community at Edmund Rice Centre Nairobi-ERCN. Eye-opening conversations. Good snacks. Even better people. πŸ½οΈπŸŒπŸ˜„
Here's the truth: when men speak up, children grow up knowing it's okay to ask for help. Boys feel validated. Young adults find courage. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦πŸŒ±
A mentally healthy man raises healthier families and stronger communities. The ripple effect is real. 🌊

Edmund Rice Karibu group had a successful camp on 9th May as they marked the feast of Blessed Edmund Rice, the Camp theme "Children Safety First"

The day was filled with mentorship, field activities and educational skits on child safety and protection.

The highlight of the celebration was when children and leaders came together to form the name β€œRice” in remembrance of Edmund Rice life through education, care, faith, and compassion.

His mission continues to inspire the work of Karibu where we believe every child is valued, protected, and empowered to achieve their dreams.

Karibu camps continues building hope, leadership, and positive transformation in Kibera community.

When leaders take time to learn and prepare together, the impact on children becomes even stronger.

On Saturday 18th April, Karibu Camps leaders held a succesful training day to ensure leaders are well prepared for camps. The morning session focused on practical ways of running camps. Leaders were reminded how camps create spaces to children to participate freely, build friendships, and grow in confidence.

The second session focused on safeguarding training, reaffirming our Karibu Group shared responsibility to protect children in all our activities. At Edmund Rice Karibu, safeguarding is not just a policy but a commitment to ensure that every child we work with is respected, safe, and supported.

The day also offered a quiet moment of remembrance as members gathered around the tree planted in honour of Br. Peter Cole. His dedication to walking with children and young people continues to inspire the Karibu Group work. Br. Peter often reminded us that we should β€œhave faith that the good seed will grow in children.” This words continue guiding our missions and Karibu Camp believe in the potential of every child and nurturing environments where that potential can grow

When mentorship reaches schools, confidence begins to grow. Students feel heard, conversations open up, and learning goes beyond the classroom.

On Sat 21st, Edmund Rice Karibu Group carried out a school outreach mentorship program in Kibera, reaching 114 learners from Grades 4, 5, and 6 across three schools. Through storytelling, discussions, and dramatized activities, students explored the theme of self-esteem and were encouraged to believe in their abilities.

β€œToday I learned that I should believe in myself and focus on my future,” shared one of the learners after the session.

By creating safe spaces for dialogue and reflection, mentorship continues to strengthen confidence, resilience, and hope among young learners in the community

On 7th March 2026, the Edmund Rice Karibu Group held a beautiful Karibu Camp as we marked International Women’s Day 2026.

Guided by this year’s theme Rights. Justice. Action., girls and boys came together to learn, share and reflect on respect, equality and the role young people play in building a better society.

At Karibu Camps, we believe change begins with conversations, learning through games, and putting a smile on a child’s face as they grow in confidence and hope.

The Edmund Rice Karibu Camp held on 22nd January 2026 at Edmund Rice Centre Nairobi created a safe and joyful space where children from different Kibera school gained confidence, built friendships, and learned essential life skills.

We were happy to be joined by the Trinity Grammar team from Australia, whose presence added energy, encouragement, and meaningful cultural exchange throughout the day.

The camp reminded us that when children feel supported and valued, real transformation begins
