Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) is a continental coalition of Civil Society Organizations whose goal is to mobilize and empower African civil society to ensure realization of environmental and climate justice for all people in Africa Pan African Climate Justice Alliance, A continental coalition of Civil Society Organizations in the African Continent has emerged as the most vibrant and
largest Civil Society network in climate change advocacy. The alliance brings together FBOs, CBOs, NGOs, INGOs and Government Institutions with a common goal of promoting and advocating for climate friendly and equity based development. PACJA aims at unifying and coordinating isolated civil society efforts on climate change advocacy in Africa, so as to ensure that pro-poor and people-centred response measures are put into consideration as governments in Africa seek to mainstream climate change into national development strategies. In the pursuit of its mandate, PACJA collaborates and encourages strategic alliances with international partners, national governments, regional governmental bodies as well as individuals sharing its aspirations, to ensure that the African voice is amplified in international climate change dialogue processes. Since it was founded in 2008, PACJA has gained recognition at African and international levels, and works closely with key stakeholders such as African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), UNEP Regional Office for Africa, UN Economic Commission for Africa and other UN agencies, regional economic integration bodies and national governments to enhance the continent's voice in international dialogue process, as well as driving climate-related policies in African. In the past year the alliance has began a collaboration with the World Bank in enhancing its work and this is verifys the recognition the alliance is receiving globally.
