We are so back with a more vibrant identity💜

After a needed break, Sauti Salama is back with renewed energy, care and community. We have taken time to pause, rebuild and return with more clarity about the work at the centre of who we are.

Sauti Salama is a GBV reporting app built for survivors and people seeking support in Kenya. Through the platform, someone can report violence, ask for the kind of support they need, choose how they want to be contacted and begin a pathway to care.

This season, we want to speak more directly about the realities young people and communities are already living through. Violence in relationships, abuse that happens online, the fear of reporting, the silence that protects perpetrators, and the struggle to find care when you finally decide to speak.

We are back with a clearer voice and a softer landing for hard conversations.

Care must answer!

In our climate and Care journey, we've learnt that every community has its own way of seeking help. While some service providers use digital platforms, many still rely on a simple phone call. Instead of asking communities to change, we've built a system that works with them.

By working closely with our trained community captains, we're making it easier for survivors to access the support they need, when they need it.

Climate change is not only changing our environment, it is also reshaping care, livelihoods, and the everyday realities of women in our communities.

Through our Care and Climate project, we partnered with the county government of Kitui through the Women Empowerment Fund to facilitate a financial literacy session with women in Tumboni Village.

Fund Officer Petronila Mutua unpacked how climate-related challenges can increase the burden of care, limit economic opportunities, and deepen vulnerabilities that can contribute to gender-based violence. The session also highlighted the importance of strengthening women’s economic resilience and the power of partnerships in creating lasting community impact.

Because when we work together and pool resources, we reach more women, strengthen support systems, and create pathways for change.

Come with us to Kitui and Isiolo counties as we listen to and learn from communities navigating the intersections of care, climate, and gender justice.

Across every climate event, the burden of care often grows heavier and for many women, this can increase vulnerabilities, including exposure to gender-based violence. Over the past six months, our Project Lead, wanja has been walking alongside communities in these counties, gathering stories and insights on how the gendered burden of care is carried through cycles of drought, displacement, and other climate realities.

She also shares how Sauti Salama is supporting women in these communities and creating spaces where their experiences, resilience, and voices can be seen, heard, and centered.

During a two-day field visit to Kitui County, the Sauti Salama team engaged and onboarded local health clinics to strengthen survivor-centred referral pathways under our Climate, Care, Energy & Protection Project.

The clinics engaged were identified based on their accessibility to target communities, capacity to receive referrals and experience supporting SRHR and GBV-related care.

These partnerships are an important step toward ensuring survivors can access timely healthcare support safely, confidentially and closer to their communities.

As we continue building community-rooted systems of protection and care, we remain committed to making support more accessible for women and girls navigating violence, climate stress and care burdens.
Together, we are building pathways of care that leave no one behind.

STOP KILLING WOMEN.

Not tomorrow.
Not after another press statement.
Not after another body.

Women should not have to organize, protest, mourn, and scream for the basic right to stay alive. We are tired of candles replacing accountability. Tired of violence being treated as ordinary. Tired of systems that fail women over and over again.

We chant because women deserve safety. We chant because women deserve dignity. We chant because women deserve to live.

Ending femicide is not women’s work alone.

Today, men showed up as voices willing to confront the violence, silence, and normalization that continue to cost women their lives. Real accountability means men speaking to other men, challenging harmful behaviors, refusing misogyny, and helping build communities where women and girls are safe, believed, and protected.

This fight needs all of us.
