Last week, our Lead Young Changemakers began their mentorship journey, with several of them meeting their mentors at the Awake Centre to kick-start two months of learning, guidance, and practical experience.

As they approach the final stretch of their six-month training, this is an opportunity to learn from industry leaders, ask the difficult questions, challenge their ideas, and gain insights that will help them turn their ambitions into action.

Because problems that span generations require leadership that does too. And building that leadership takes more than training—it takes guidance, experience, and people willing to walk alongside the next generation of changemakers.

Our Lead Young training has been happening quietly. No hype, no constant social media posts, just young people showing up every Saturday, committed to becoming changemakers.

3 months done, 3 to go. The growth is happening, the transformation is taking shape, and the changemakers are almost ready. We may be quiet, but something powerful is brewing - we unveil the transformation!

The next decade begins with the spaces we create today. Yesterday, our Center looked a little different and for us, these changes mean much more than a fresh coat of paint.

We invested in new school lockers and chairs, workstations for our team, a printer, and improvements to the overall learning environment at Awake. These are simple things, but they make a big difference in how children learn, how young people train, and how our team delivers the work behind it all.

This investment, generously supported by Round Table 152 Brake, Germany, is helping us strengthen our Come to School! Stay in School! Thrive in School! model while creating a better training space for the young changemakers in our Lead Young program.

It is also a reflection of what we have set out to do in this new financial year: invest in the foundations that will allow Awake to serve better, grow stronger and create greater opportunities for children and young people.

Last Saturday, mothers and daughters from Baba Dogo came together for our inaugural Mother-Daughter Forum under the Girls Rise Nairobi Project. Delivered in a powerful consortium partnership between Awake Youth Initiative and INUA K**E, and powered by the Children's Rights and Violence Prevention Fund (CRVPF), this initiative is all about creating safe spaces for healing and growth.

Through open dialogue, intergenerational reflections, and heart-to-heart commitments, we are actively dismantling harmful norms, improving communication, and building non-violent homes where adolescent girls can thrive free from violence.
