Coding and robotics give learners the tools to think critically, solve problems creatively, collaborate with others and turn ideas into practical solutions.

Through Classworks TechQuest, DEAN’s KICD-approved coding and robotics curriculum, learners gain hands on experience in programming, computational thinking, logical reasoning, creativity and problem-solving. During their TechQuest Level 2 training, these teachers explored how coding and robotics can move beyond the classroom and be applied to challenges within their communities.

One of the automated systems developed was a smart laundry system designed to detect rainfall and automatically move clothes to a sheltered area, a simple idea addressing a very familiar everyday problem. In partnership with the Rotary Club of Kilimani Alfajiri, DEAN is helping create new opportunities for students at Shadrack Kimalel Secondary School through the CLASSworksTechQuest program. We believe that every student deserves access to the tools, skills and opportunities needed to thrive in a digital world. That's why we're bringing coding, robotics and digital literacy closer to learners, helping them build critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills that will serve them long after they leave the classroom.

To support this journey, DEAN provided:
- 15 tablets and Bluetooth keyboards to enable hands-on digital learning
- An ElimuPi server loaded with KICD-approved offline educational content, ensuring students can access quality learning resources anytime
- A 4G internet modem to expand connectivity and open doors to a world of digital learning opportunities

To ensure these resources translate into lasting educational outcomes, teachers have begun a two-year professional development programme focused on integrating digital learning, coding and robotics into classroom instruction. By equipping educators with the knowledge and confidence to use these tools effectively, we're helping build a sustainable foundation for future generations of learners.
