STATEMENT: We mourn with the affected Utumishi Girls Academy families and extend our sincere condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones. Our thoughts are also with the students who survived the incident, many of whom are now dealing with fear, trauma, and uncertainty following this devastating experience.

In a , the stigma and taboos surrounding menstruation are history. It is a world where everyone can access the products, period education, menstrual health services and period-friendly infrastructure they need.

Yesterday, FIDA-Kenya pledged to provide legal representation and psychosocial support to survivors of gender-based violence, r**e, and defilement during the opening of new offices for the Kondele Social Justice Centre and Manyatta ‘B’ Social Justice Centre in Kisumu County. These issues are still common in both communities. The new centres, supported by IJM, will offer safe, accessible places for people to report social injustices and seek help. The event brought together key justice sector groups, including IPOA, National Police Service NCIC, LAW SOCIETY OF KENYA (LSK) NGEC, religious leaders, and other justice advocates.
