" We used to lose half our crop to the dry months. Now we know when to plant, what to plant next to what, and how to keep water in the soil longer."

That's the kind of change we're building toward at the Agroforestry Demonstration Site — not just trees in the ground, but knowledge farmers can actually use on their own land.

More farmer stories coming through September and October.

🌳 Kenya's last true rainforest. Kakamega Forest is the easternmost surviving fragment of the ancient Guineo-Congolian rainforest that once stretched across Central Africa — a living link between Kenya and the Congo Basin. In June, our team walked beneath its canopy for World Environment Day, and we're still in awe of what we saw. More on what we're doing to protect places like this :)

Before the rains come heavier, the team has been busy.

This week at Miti Museum: clearing gutters, checking the water diverters, and inspecting the dam liner on our rainwater harvesting system. It's not glamorous work, but it's the difference between a full water tank in January and an empty one.

Kenya Met is forecasting a strong El Nino this short-rains season. We'd rather spend a few days now on maintenance than lose water we could have saved.

What are you doing to get your own gutters, tanks, dam ready?

01/09/2026

This is what we go through in the tour, well almost because we get into much more detail of every component of the .

As we await the Elnino how best can we ensure the water goes deep down the aquifers to ensure we have it help for a season for our plants and use.

Lower water costs, fewer watering cycles and healthier plants—even during dry conditions.

Best applied during new planting, Absorber retains moisture around the root zone to support stronger establishment and reduce water stress. It is ideal for fruit trees, forestry seedlings, crops, lawns, gardens, nurseries and landscaping projects.

Plant with Absorber. Water less. Give every root a stronger start.
