Our Story
RedR UK in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) seeks to use our Facebook platform to draw attention to the tireless work that humanitarians undertake across the region and worldwide by assisting communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.
RedR UK is an international disaster relief charity which provides training and technical support to national and international non-governmental organisations, aid workers and communities responding to natural and man-made disasters. While RedR UK started as a ‘Register of Engineers for Disaster Relief’, we deliver a variety of engaging, interactive and participatory training and consultancy services based on over 30 years of extensive experience in the UK and globally.
The RedR UK office in Nairobi, Kenya provides training and support to humanitarian specialists in Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Chad, Madagascar, Somalia, Ethiopia, the Central African Republic (CAR), Rwanda and Senegal. Since our doors opened in 2011, RedR UK SSA has built up a register of almost 40 highly experienced associate trainers (ATs) who oversee a range of training courses and grant-funded projects in humanitarian management, safety and security, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), logistics and disaster risk reduction (DRR) among others. We aim to enhance the disaster response cycle in Sub-Saharan Africa.
