For members of KCIC’s , international connections are becoming tangible opportunities for business growth, collaboration and market access.

This was demonstrated yesterday when we hosted a delegation of leading South Korean cleantech companies, Cosmos Labs, K-BMS Company, Dynamic Industry Corp and Zero Technology, to explore collaboration opportunities within Kenya’s growing climate innovation ecosystem.

As part of the engagement, the delegation visited Knights Energy Limited, a alumni enterprise and , to explore potential partnerships in clean energy, technology and market development.

The discussions opened opportunities for knowledge exchange, technology transfer, business development and market access, while giving the companies first-hand insight into Kenya's climate innovation landscape.

This is one of the benefits of the Founders Collective in action: connecting KCIC alumni and climate entrepreneurs with global innovators, investors and strategic partners who can help unlock new opportunities and support enterprise growth.

As the Founders Collective grows, we are creating more pathways for Kenyan climate enterprises to build meaningful international partnerships and scale their impact beyond Kenya.

Through the Sustainable Waste Innovation for a Future in Transition (SWIFT) programme, KCIC is supporting Nakuru County to strengthen its waste management policy and legislative framework, helping create an enabling environment for innovation, private sector investment and sustainable waste management solutions.

This week, KCIC supported a two-day review of the Nakuru County Waste Management Policy and Act, alongside the County Government of Nakuru and the Nakuru County Assembly. The review brought together policymakers, legislators and technical experts to identify implementation gaps, align the framework with current national priorities, and explore opportunities to strengthen waste segregation, recycling, resource recovery and value addition.

As counties continue to respond to rapid urbanization and increasing waste generation, effective policies play a critical role in unlocking circular economy opportunities.

The review is a reminder that meaningful change begins with the right policies, creating the foundation for innovation, investment and lasting impact in the waste management sector.

Last week, 60 youth-led organizations from Nairobi and Kwale Counties completed the bootcamp, a five-day programme designed to strengthen climate-smart and technology-enabled enterprises through practical learning, mentorship and business development. The bootcamp culminated in a Demo Day, where participants presented their refined business ideas to a panel of judges.

Throughout the bootcamp, participants strengthened their business models, sharpened their financial management skills, explored branding and digital marketing strategies, refined their investor pitches and gained practical insights into building resilient, climate-smart enterprises.

The ideas presented reflected the ingenuity of Kenya's young entrepreneurs, from transforming sea moss into nature-based beauty products to advancing circular economy solutions for waste management and digital platforms connecting farmers to markets.

"This bootcamp was a capacity-building journey focused on strengthening business models, improving market access and preparing participants to attract investment," said Beatrice Muema, Sheria ya Vijana Programme Officer. The bootcamp may have concluded, but for these young innovators, this is only the beginning of their journey.

For more than a decade, KCIC has supported climate entrepreneurs to launch, grow and scale innovative businesses across Africa.

Today, that journey entered a new chapter with the official launch of the , a lifelong, founder-first platform connecting climate entrepreneurs to the capital, markets, knowledge, partnerships and strategic support they need to build resilient businesses and scale their impact.

The launch brought together founders, investors, development partners, government and private sector leaders to explore what it takes for entrepreneurs to thrive beyond incubation. The discussions highlighted a shared understanding: building successful enterprises requires long-term relationships, access to opportunities and collaboration that extends far beyond the lifespan of any single programme. As KCIC CEO Joseph Murabula shared: "While programmes have defined timelines, enterprise building rarely follows the same calendar."

That message echoed the experience of many founders, who spoke about the uncertainty that often follows programme graduation and the need for trusted relationships as their businesses evolve. The Founders Collective was created to ensure founders remain connected to the people, networks and opportunities they need long after formal support ends.

More than the unveiling of a new initiative, the launch marks the beginning of a lifelong community where founders remain connected as their businesses continue to grow.

Today marked the official close-out of the , bringing to a close a five-year partnership between KCIC, the European Union and Danida that strengthened women and youth-led agribusiness enterprises across Kenya.

The day began with the handover of the final Business Incubation Hub in Kiambu County, completing the transfer of all eight hubs to their respective county governments. Later, selected programme assets were handed over to KCIC, bringing the programme to a close while ensuring its legacy lives on through county governments and the organisation.

Over the past five years, AgriBiz supported more than 2,100 enterprises through business advisory services, technical assistance, access to finance, mentorship and market linkages, helping entrepreneurs build stronger businesses while strengthening local enterprise ecosystems across the country.

Although the programme has reached the end of its implementation, its legacy lives on through empowered entrepreneurs, strengthened county institutions, enduring partnerships and the knowledge that will continue shaping enterprise development in Kenya and beyond.

Halfway through the three-day Investor Readiness Bootcamp, 53 entrepreneurs from the Cohort 2 are strengthening the financial and strategic capabilities needed to build investment-ready businesses.

The bootcamp brings together participating entrepreneurs for expert-led sessions, mentorship, and peer learning designed to enhance entrepreneurs' financial capabilities and prepare them to confidently engage with potential investors.

Over the past two days, participants have explored key areas including financial management and forecasting, investment structuring, emerging green financing trends, investor communication and regulatory readiness. Through interactive learning and expert guidance, they are applying these lessons within their enterprises.

The sessions are also broadening entrepreneurs' understanding of the financing landscape, introducing them to a wider range of investment instruments and funding options. "I didn't know there were financing options beyond debt and equity, such as convertible instruments. It opened my eyes to possibilities I hadn't considered before," said Antony Makanga

As the bootcamp heads into its final day, participants will build on the knowledge gained over the past two days by refining their investor pitches and strengthening their growth strategies.
