GPF Kenya Facilitates Business Model Canvas Training for SAKU Council Leaders

On 10th August 2026, the Global Peace Foundation Kenya (GPF Kenya), through its Youth Leadership Development and Environment Management Programme, facilitated a Business Model Canvas training for 15 members of the Students Association of KCA University (SAKU) Council.
The participants represent SAKU leadership from KCA University’s Western Campus – Kisumu, Town Campus, and Kitengela Campus. The 15 student leaders are members of Cohort 6 of the President’s Fellowship – Chandaria Legacy Award Programme.

The training is part of the Fellowship’s broader objective of nurturing the next generation of moral, innovative and transformative leaders who are committed to leading with character and integrity.
As part of Cohort 6, the student leaders will undergo a 10-month mentorship and coaching programme, integrating community service learning and volunteerism to equip them with practical leadership skills and encourage them to become agents of positive change in their communities.

The programme culminates in the graduation and selection of Cohort 6 award winners, scheduled for 20th November 2026 at KCA University Main Campus along Thika Road, Nairobi.

Global Peace Foundation Congratulatory Message

The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) extends its warmest congratulations to Charlene Chelagat Ruto and Isaya Yengu on the occasion of their Koito Ak Chaik—a cherished cultural celebration of engagement and farewell as they begin their journey together as a family.

We celebrate this beautiful union as a testament to the enduring importance of family, faith, culture and shared values in building strong individuals and peaceful communities.

We also congratulate His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto on this significant family milestone. The love, values and guidance they have invested in Charlene’s upbringing are reflected in this important moment as she begins a new chapter of her life.

At the Global Peace Foundation, we believe that strong families are the foundation of peaceful and prosperous societies. The coming together of Charlene and Isaya, bringing together families from Kenya and Tanzania, is also a beautiful expression of the bonds that unite the East African community.

The Global Peace Foundation Kenya, represented by Mr. Vincent Ayako, Director of Youth Leadership Development and Environment Management, participated in the National Steering Committee meeting responsible for planning the World Values Day 2026, chaired by Mr. Edward Nyongesa, Director of National Cohesion and Values.

This year's World Values Day will be commemorated on Thursday, 15th October 2026, under the theme "National Values and Active Citizenship," which aligns with the global theme of Values and Volunteerism. The theme underscores the importance of selfless service, civic responsibility, active citizenship, and collective action in strengthening national values across society.

The commemoration seeks to raise awareness of national values while fostering collaboration among government institutions, development partners, the private sector, civil society, and the media. The verification and assessment process for all schools nominated in the 6th Edition of the Great Places to School Initiative has now been successfully concluded. We sincerely appreciate the commitment, cooperation, and enthusiasm demonstrated by all participating schools throughout the assessment period.

The judging process is currently underway, during which the evaluation panel is carefully reviewing the findings and evidence gathered during the verification visits. This rigorous process will determine the schools that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to providing safe, inclusive, innovative, and learner-centered educational environments.

Once the judging process is complete, all nominated schools will be officially informed of the outcome through the contacts they provided during the nomination process.

The winners will be recognized and celebrated during the 6th Edition of the Great Places to School Gala Awards, scheduled to take place on 25th September 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya. The Gala Awards will bring together education leaders, school administrators, policymakers, development partners, and other key stakeholders to celebrate excellence and innovation in education.

‎The Global Peace Foundation Kenya, represented by Mr. Vincent Ayako, Youth Leadership Development and Environment Program Manager, and Ms. Elizabeth Wanza, Project Associate, was honored to join the students and leadership of the Students Association of KCA University (SAKU) during the 2026 Special General Meeting, held under the inspiring theme, "Leading the Shift."

‎The meeting provided a valuable platform to engage with emerging leaders, exchange ideas, and inspire students to embrace ethical leadership as a catalyst for personal growth, community transformation, and national development.

‎During the session, we introduced the President's Fellowship Chandaria Legacy Award and highlighted its mission of nurturing ethical, responsible, and service-driven leaders who are committed to creating lasting positive impact within their communities. We also informed students that registration for the President's Fellowship Chandaria Legacy Award is currently open to all eligible applicants, regardless of their institution or background. Participants were encouraged to seize this opportunity to become part of a dynamic network of young leaders dedicated to nation-building, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.

‎We further shared insights into the diverse opportunities available through the President's Fellowship Association, including leadership development, mentorship, community service, volunteerism, peacebuilding initiatives, personal development, and practical capacity-building programs.
