On 27th July 2026, Caritas Nairobi joined project partners, cooperative members, county government representatives, and other stakeholders to mark this important occasion under the Caffรจ Corretto โ€“ Right Coffee Project. The launch celebrated the journey of hard work and purpose that has transformed locally grown coffee into a brand that proudly represents the quality and identity of Gititu Coffee Coffee Growers Cooperative Society ltd farmers.

The event featured remarks from cooperative leadership, project partners and county officials, a coffee tasting session showcasing the rich flavour of Gititu Coffee, exhibitions of value-added coffee products, and a photo exhibition highlighting the cooperative's journey and achievements.

Through the Caffรจ Corretto โ€“ Right Coffee Project, Caritas Nairobi is working alongside farmers and partners to promote sustainable, climate-smart, and quality-driven coffee production across Kiambu and Embu counties. The initiative aims to improve the livelihoods of more than 12,000 smallholder coffee farmers by strengthening four coffee cooperatives through enhanced production practices, value addition, and expanded market opportunities.

At Caritas Nairobi, we remain committed to empowering coffee producers with the knowledge, skills, and partnerships needed to produce high-quality coffee, increase household incomes, and build resilient farming communities.

In a true act of fatherly love, compassion, and commitment to the holistic growth of the boy child, the clergy of the Archdiocese of Nairobi today donated over KES 500,000 to Kwetu Home of Peace โ€“ Ruai during their annual Charity Day.

Led by Rev. Fr. Martin Kimama Kimani, Chairman of the ADN Clergy, Rev. Fr. Peter Kiarie, Executive Director of Caritas Nairobi, and other priests, the delegation began the day with the celebration of Holy Mass before being introduced to the young men and later touring the institution's various projects. The priests also spent time interacting with the boys, listening to their stories, encouraging them, and reaffirming their commitment to accompanying them on their journey of healing and transformation.

Reflecting on last year's electrical fire that destroyed the home's kitchen, Fr. Kiarie expressed his gratitude to his fellow priests for their generosity in responding to the appeal for support. He also shared the progress made in constructing a new modern kitchen, noting that while significant milestones have been achieved, more resources are needed to complete the project. He observed that the clergyโ€™s contribution would play a vital role in bringing the facility closer to completion.

The visit was further enriched by the presence of young missionaries from Spain, who have faithfully supported and accompanied the home and its residents over the years.

Kwetu Home of Peace is a Charitable Children's Institution under the Archdiocese of Nairobi dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and reintegrating street boys to their families and society. Through education, counselling, mentorship, and spiritual formation, the home continues to restore hope, dignity, and a brighter future for vulnerable children.

In a day filled with fun, friendly competition, and a shared sense of purpose, staff from the Archdiocese of Nairobi (ADN), Caritas Nairobi, and Caritas Micro-Finance Bank came together as one family for the inaugural Joint Sports Day at Queen of Apostles Seminary, Ruaraka.

Stepping away from their daily routines, participants put their wit, strength, resilience, and teamwork to the test through exciting games and sporting activities, fostering fellowship and reinforcing the spirit of unity that drives their shared mission.

Beyond the excitement on the field, the day reflected a deeper truth: every role within the Archdiocese of Nairobi is part of the Church's mission of evangelization. Whether serving in pastoral ministry, social outreach, financial empowerment, or administration, each member of staff contributes to proclaiming the Gospel through action, transforming lives, restoring dignity, and creating opportunities that promote both the spiritual growth and holistic prosperity of God's people.

Caritas Nairobi joined fellow project partners for a stakeholder meeting to evaluate milestones, review project results, exchange lessons learned and discuss the progress of the Caffรจ Corretto โ€“ Right Coffee Project.

The project promotes a sustainable, climate-smart, and quality-driven agricultural model for the coffee value chain in Kiambu and Embu counties. It seeks to increase the incomes of more than 12,000 coffee producers and strengthen four coffee cooperatives through improved production practices, value addition, and market access.

In Kiambu County, Caritas Nairobi works with farmers through the Gititu Coffee Growers Cooperative Society and Mikari Coffee, empowering coffee producers to improve quality, productivity, and livelihoods.

A key component of the project focuses on value addition by creating direct market linkages between coffee cooperatives and local coffee shops. Through these partnerships, coffee grown, roasted, and packaged by the cooperatives will reach more local consumers, increase the visibility of Kenyan coffee while encouraging greater domestic consumption.

The Caffรจ Corretto โ€“ Right Coffee Project is financed by the Italian Cooperation through Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS) and implemented by Celim Kenya in collaboration with AICS Nairobi,IPSIA Kenya, Caritas Nairobi, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Association of Women in Coffee Industry(AWICI), and the Kenya Coffee Platform
