7 years of Teach For Kenya, a movement of over 400 members, more than 120,000 learners impacted. Now, we are asking a critical question: how effective is our teacher coaching model in strengthening teaching and learning?
We partnered with the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) to conduct an independent evaluation of our model, bringing rigorous evidence to our work in teacher leadership, coaching and classroom practice.
The study compared 54 TFK Fellows with 68 non-TFK/system teachers across Nairobi, Kisumu and Machakos, examining play-based learning, teaching quality, social-emotional learning, literacy & numeracy
Beyond measuring outcomes, the evaluation gives us an opportunity to understand where our model is making a difference, where there is room to grow, and what evidence can inform the wider education system.
It also provides an independent evidence base for initiatives such as Learning Through Play, helping us move from promising practice to stronger evidence on what works, for whom and in what contexts.
We believe the future of education reform must be grounded in evidence, learning and continuous improvement.
We look forward to sharing the findings through an upcoming policy brief & full evaluation report and to bringing educators, policymakers, researchers, funders and education partners into the conversation.
