It's calving season for our Coastal Topi, and our hearts are FULL!
16+ newborn calves documented this month—each one a testament to what's possible when we refuse to give up.
But with new life comes new threats:
⚠️ Snaring is UP
⚠️ Predation risks are HIGH
⚠️ Round-the-clock monitoring is CRITICAL
Our teams are maintaining close watch, ensuring these vulnerable babies have a fighting chance.
This is the circle of life we're protecting. This is the future we're fighting for.
🌱 New life needs new support. Will you sponsor a calf's protection?

We took a small break this evening to catch our breath as we exhale the challenges of 2025 and bring in a new wave of successes in 2026. We don’t often get moments to ourselves like this, working right through the holidays to combat poaching in its peak season, so we treasure these opportunities to reflect and redeploy strategically based on lessons learnt. There is much that lies ahead and we are ready to serve. Wishing all a prosperous year ahead, from the Ulinzi Africa Foundation ground team and management. ❤️

Human-Wildlife Conflict isn't just a statistic—it's a crisis threatening both communities AND elephants.

Last February, we provided critical ground support for an elephant translocation—moving a herd to safety before tragedy struck.

Because here's the truth: When elephants raid crops, families lose their livelihoods. When communities retaliate, elephants die.

Our work helped to bridge the gap:
🤝 Community partnerships
🚨 Rapid response teams
🛡️ Proactive interventions

Both people AND wildlife can thrive—but only if we act.

💡 Your support funds these life-saving interventions. Click link in bio to donate!

While you were celebrating the holidays, our ranger teams were in the field—walking, watching, protecting.

In just ONE MONTH:
🔍 2,502 km patrolled
🪤 21 snares destroyed
🛡️ 3 arrests made
🦁 Critical habitats secured

Behind every statistic is a ranger who chose wildlife over comfort. Who walked through the heat. Who stayed vigilant through the night.

Meet the unsung heroes keeping Kenya's rarest species alive.

👉 Double-tap if you believe in the power of boots on the ground.

Your donations fuel their mission. Every dollar = more patrols, more lives saved, more hope.

In the last few weeks, we have had ravaging bushfires, which we have thus far managed to contain. As expected, alot of holes have emerged in everyones clothing due to flying embers from the palms, one ranger suffered a minor burn but otherwise all is well and all team members are safe. We are quite lucky that we have natural eco-friendly fire-beaters in the low palms which we DIY . They are really very effective. Yet to find a solution for the flying embers!
The worst part about fires here is how it spreads. With dry palm fronds, the embers are carried by the winds and ignite other trees and grasses, quickly spiraling into a full blown bush fire. Thanks to our swift response we were able to extinguish the flames and control the burn after an intensive 4 hour fight.
Please help us rebuild after this terrible loss.
Visit our website and donate what you can to help us keep this forest safe.
Thank you!

Sekibibi Bareke Désiré - 1st Runner Up in the Field Ranger Category.

As the Central Sector Manager of Virunga National Park in the DRC, Sekibibi has made significant strides in one of the world’s most dangerous conservation areas. He led efforts to remove over 150 poachers and armed groups from the park and played a key role in the protection of Virunga's 850 elephants, ensuring their safe movement between Uganda and the DRC, arresting 27 poachers, and repairing electric fences damaged by poachers. His work in reducing poaching in the central sector from 60% in 2023 to just 10% in 2024 is notable, as is the recovery of 5,000 hectares in the Ndwali and Chanika areas. He evicted 3,000 people involved in illegal activities such as deforestation and farming. Leading 135 rangers, he works on the frontlines, inspiring his team with his dedication, mentoring them and ensuring their commitment to conserving Virunga.

Thank you Sekibibi, for your commitment to Virunga.
