The Eastern Africa Regional Youth Network (EARYN) was established in 2003 by youth organizations during the final phase of the Global Youth Network (GYN), an initiative of the United Nations Office Drug and Crime (UNODC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in the context of their global initiative on primary prevention of substance abuse. The Global Youth Network had been established in 1998 a

t a youth conference organized by UNODC in Banff, Canada, which brought together 33 youth organizations from all over the world working in the area of primary prevention.
