Volunteers for Children in Need

From The VOFCIN Chairman's Desk

Considering the current political situation in the country, I propose we open a contribution for families indirectly affected. Many have unfortunately lost their homes and businesses amidst these pressures.

At this point, for our Kenyan members, kindly mark yourself safe and tell us what's happening around you.
Feel free to join our weekly international Forum in EngageXR every Thursday at 10pm and share.
(email [email protected] or [email protected] for the link)

We haven't had a new proposal recently, and as we are now in the third quarter, I believe it's time to initiate something impactful. As we identify the families in need, let's gather our contributions so we can assist one or more families.

The contribution period will be open until the end of August. Kindly also consider donating clothes, dry foods, and furniture for those who are able to contribute.

Best regards,
Tr Paul Simon Waiyaki

In collaboration with Rotary Club Lavington, Nairobi. VOFCIN boosted these girls with a goodie pack that included sanitary packs, Maize Flour, a solar lamp, a book, bar of soap, sport jerseys, and snacks. There was also a boost of personal gear.

This was during the installation of one of VOFCIN's Veteran member, Millicent Wacera as the 2025/26 President of The Rotary Club Lavington.

VOFCIN Update.

I have received a very heart warming report today.
I couldn't make it to go to Njeri's but I did manage to send a neighbor.
Jane, the girl whom we took for mental health check up has not had one single convulsion since the hospital visit.
She however needs a drug refill which the mother will attend to on Monday.
The drugs are very expensive at the Chemist.
At the hospital, we had managed to buy the same at just over One Thousand Shillings, but at the chemist, the same drugs go for over Six Thousand.
So, I'll provide her with busfare to commute to Mathare Hospital on Monday to go buy the drugs.
She won't need an uber this time round because Jane won't need to accompany her.

It's a VOFCIN Project.
And we'll keep watch until we mark it complete.
And I thank you all for it.

Subject: VOFCIN Flood Victims Fundraiser Update

Dear VOFCIN Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am pleased to inform you that the VOFCIN Flood Victims Fundraiser has entered the actualizing stage. Our collective efforts are making a significant impact, and I want to share a specific case with you.

We are currently assisting a family from Gitaru, Kenya, who tragically lost their father a few months ago. He was a dedicated watchman at a local school when he was senselessly murdered. Left behind are his widow and two daughters, who have been deeply affected by the recent floods. Their mental well-being is at risk, and they are struggling to cope with the loss.

Our chairman personally visited the family, verifying their need for assistance. Thanks to the Flood Victims Kitty, we can now provide crucial support to this grieving family. Here’s what we’re doing:

β€’ Food Support: We are ensuring that the family has access to nutritious meals during this difficult time.

β€’ Mental Health Checkups and Treatment: The family will receive professional mental health assessments and necessary treatment at Mathare Mental Hospital.

β€’ Transport Assistance: We are arranging transportation to and from the hospital for their appointments.

β€’ Post-Clinical Follow-ups: The girls will receive ongoing support to help them overcome their psychological distress.

One of the upcoming clinics is scheduled for Wednesday, June 12th. Your continued support is invaluable, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all VOFCIN members and friends who have contributed to the Flood Victims Fundraiser. Your generosity is making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

May your kindness be multiplied a hundredfold, and may favorable winds always guide your way.
