📍 Participatory Research Training Underway!

Cefa - Il seme della solidarietà, in collaboration with ARCO Action Research for CO-development, is conducting a training for County Mapping Coordinators and Field Mapping Assistants with disabilities, who will lead company mapping and accessibility assessments across Makueni, Murang'a, and Nairobi counties.

By placing persons with disabilities at the centre of the research process, the initiative promotes meaningful participation while ensuring that accessibility assessments reflect the lived experiences and perspectives of those they are designed to benefit.

During the training, participants are gaining the knowledge and tools needed to identify businesses that can offer inclusive internship and employment opportunities for students with disabilities graduating from selected Vocational Training Centres.

Together, we are creating stronger pathways to inclusive education 📚, decent work 💼, and equal opportunities for all.

These activities are implemented under the -WISE Project, funded by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionalethrough AICS Nairobi.

Over the past month, under the Project, Cefa - Il seme della solidarietà has continued to promote Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture in , Hirshabelle State of Somalia, supporting women improve household nutrition while strengthening sustainable food production.

Through this initiative:

🌱 300 women farmers were trained on sustainable agricultural practices, nutrition, food preparation, food safety, and sanitation, equipping them with the knowledge to produce and prepare healthier, more nutritious meals for their families.
🥬 300 women farmers also received agricultural inputs and nutrition-sensitive agriculture packages, including vegetable seeds and fertilizers, enabling them to establish productive kitchen gardens and increase access to diverse, nutritious foods.

By combining agricultural support with nutrition education, the ARISE Project is empowering women to improve food security, enhance family nutrition, and build more resilient livelihoods for their communities.

The project is funded by Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale through AICS Nairobi, and implemented together with Shabelle Relief & Development Initiatives-SHARDI.

🤝🌍 Strengthening partnerships for sustainable development in Kwale County!

Cefa - Il seme della solidarietà and Action Against Hunger USA recently carried out a joint mission in Kwale County to officially introduce the Project and engage with key county stakeholders. The project is funded by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale through AICS Nairobi.

💧🌱 During the mission, the consortium met with the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) and the County Departments of Education, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Health, and Water Services to align project interventions with county priorities and strengthen collaboration for successful implementation.

🐝🐟 Together, we are laying the foundations for improved water access, food security, nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, and women's economic empowerment across Kwale County.

🙏 We thank the County Government of Kwale for the warm welcome and look forward to working together to create lasting impact!

🤝 On the 29 June 2026, Cefa - Il seme della solidarietà, together with GECPD Somalia, the Ministry of Information, Technology and Cultural Heritage, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, convened a Joint Community Dialogue Forum in Garowe.

👥 The forum brought together 50 stakeholders (28 women and 22 men), including youth leaders, women’s representatives, religious leaders, traditional elders, cultural experts, civil society, and government institutions. Participants validated the outcomes of 12 Integrated Community Dialogue Sessions, highlighting the root causes of conflict and community-led solutions to strengthen peace and social cohesion.

🕊️ The forum concluded with a Joint Declaration and advocacy messages urging government institutions and development partners to integrate the community’s recommendations into policies and peacebuilding efforts.

Together, we continue building stronger, more resilient, and peaceful communities across Puntland. 🌍

Sanitation improvements are progressing well across Jowhar district, Hirshabelle State of Somalia! 🚧🚻

Construction of Ventilated Improved Pit latrines is ongoing at Kalundi, Halgan, Gafay, and Parey Primary Schools, while six latrines are also under construction at New Alla Ameen IDP Camp.

Implemented by Cefa - Il seme della solidarietà in collaboration with Shabelle Relief & Development Initiatives-SHARDI, these activities are part of the ARISE Project, funded by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale through AICS Nairobi, helping improve access to safe, dignified, and hygienic sanitation facilities for students and displaced families in Jowhar district.

🌱 Supporting farmers through the ARISE Project

Under the ARISE Project, the distribution of GAP kits was successfully completed across the six targeted villages of Raqayle, Halgan, Muryale, Gafay, Sabun and Marerey.

The final distribution took place in Gafay and Muryale, marking the completion of the activity in all selected villages.

Each beneficiary received a GAP kit including 20 kg of maize seeds, 3 kg of cowpea seeds, 500 ml of Alfas pesticide, 1 litre of Foliar NPK fertilizer and one knapsack sprayer.

These kits aim to support women farmers in applying improved agricultural practices, strengthening crop production, improving household food security and enhancing community resilience.

🌍 AGROBLUE Project Kick-Off in Kenya!

We are pleased to announce the launch of “AGROBLUE – Promoting Sustainable Agriculture and Blue Economy in Kenya”, a new project aimed at strengthening food security and climate resilience in Kwale and Tana River counties.

The project will promote 🌱climate-smart agriculture, sustainable artisanal fisheries and diversified income-generating activities, supporting farmers and fishers in improving productivity, reducing losses and accessing better markets.

AGROBLUE also contributes to building more resilient, sustainable and inclusive rural and coastal communities, by strengthening local capacities, promoting environmental protection and supporting long-term livelihood opportunities.

🇮🇹 The project is funded by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale through Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo - Ufficio di Nairobi, and implemented in partnership with Azione Contro la Fame (lead applicant), Muslim women Advancement of Rights and Protection and Politecnico di Milano – Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
