We are pleased to share that Dr. Sam Ebale, DBDON Coordinator, and Ms. Irene Waweru, Senior Programme Officer, represented DBDON at the Workshop on Financial Administration & Risk Management that took place April 27-29, 2026, in Kampala, Uganda.
Hosted by KOLPING INTERNATIONAL and the Uganda Kolping Society, this specialized three-day training focused on financial administration requirements for projects co-financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Germany.
Workshop Highlights:
1. Expert-led sessions on BMZ funding guidelines and financial administration standards
2. Risk management frameworks and assessment strategies
3. Quality standards for donor reporting and annual audits
4. Practical case studies from NGO operations across Africa
5. Interactive working group exercises on real-world financial challenges
This capacity-building opportunity is particularly significant for DBDON as several Don Bosco Kenya projects, including those in Don Bosco Kakuma, Embu, Marsabit, and Makuyu, have been supported by BMZ funding. The training directly supports our mission to enhance project management capabilities and strengthen accountability in donor-funded initiatives.
As DBDON continues to develop and implement programs serving over 15,000 children, youth, and vulnerable communities across Kenya's 12 Don Bosco institutions, this training ensures we maintain the highest standards of financial stewardship and compliance.
The knowledge and best practices gained will strengthen our ongoing partnerships with donors and enhance our ability to effectively manage resources for maximum impact in youth empowerment, TVET education, and community development programs.
