Towards the Africa We Want - All Africa Youth Network Reflections on The Mining Indaba

🌍🇰🇪It has been such a refreshing experience participating in the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church (KELC) National Youth Rally in Kilifi held from 19th to 23rd August under the theme “Rooted in Christ, Growing to Transform the World” (Colossians 2:6–7).

Bishop Catherine of KELC served as the theme expositor, while the All Africa Conference of Churches Executive Youth Secretary, Muyunga Brian delivered the keynote address establishing the rally’s theme as a leadership framework for African Christian youth leaders today, highlighting their in church growth and Africa’s sustainable development.

The rally featured engaging conversations on mental health, entrepreneurship and active citizenship. On 22 August, the youth also marched to the beach and led a beach cleanup, putting faith into action through care for creation. The cultural night and all creative performances were amazing! Congratulations to the KELC youth leadership led by Comrade Patrick Musembi for the job well done and to God be all the Glory!

We are deeply grateful to PROCMURA - Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa and all partners and individuals who made this gathering possible. Special appreciation to the team led by Rev. Frank, who travelled from Tanzania to express solidarity and ecumenical love to KELC.

May God continue to bless and us all as we apply Christian agency to build the Africa we want.

🌍🇪🇬The second day of our Youth Roundtable on Eco-stewardship, Ecumenism and Pan-Africanism in Egyptdeepened the conversation on ecological justice and the role of young people in ecostewardship. Building on yesterday’s reflections, we explored how the climate and ecological crises are not only environmental concerns, but also matters of justice, faith, human dignity and the future of Africa.
We challenged ourselves to move from awareness to action, strengthening our commitment to promoting life-flourishing economic systems and contribute to the Africa We Want.

We are grateful for the rich fellowship, wisdom and leadership shared throughout this gathering, and for the opportunity to journey together as young African Christians committed to caring for our common home.

🌍🇪🇬The All Africa Conference of Churches is marking International Youth Day and Week through a Youth Roundtable on ecostewardship, ecumenism and Pan-Africanism for the Africa We Want, bringing together youth leaders in Egypt.

Today, on the first of our two-day gathering, we reflected on the social, economic and ecological realities of Egypt and Africa, explored the common aspirations of young people as articulated in Agenda 2063, and reflected on the role of Christianity in advancing these aspirations.

The afternoon was dedicated to a deeper interrogation of faith and environmental stewardship. Through small-group Bible studies and engagement with selected biblical texts, we explored different dimensions of ecological justice and what our faith calls us to do in caring for God’s creation and building a just and sustainable Africa.

We are deeply grateful to the Evangelical Church of Egypt for organizing and hosting this important gathering, and to all the participants for their leadership, wisdom, commitment and Christian witness.

✨ Day 1 has set the foundation. We look forward to Day 2 with renewed hope, faith and determination to contribute to the Africa We Want.

🌍🇹🇿Congratulations to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT)! 🇹🇿

We warmly congratulate the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) for the successful National Youth Congress held at the University of Dodoma from 5th to 9th August 2026. The Congress, attended by more than 500 youth leaders, was guided by a theme drawn from Luke 2:49. We were particularly delighted to see youth leaders from the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church participating in this important gathering.

It was also inspiring to see several participants from the 2nd All Africa Youth Conference (AAYC) held in Nairobi in 2025 now taking up leadership roles at this national gathering. This is a wonderful testimony to the growing impact of youth leadership and fellowship across the continent.

The All Africa Conference of Churches Executive Youth Secretary, Muyunga Brian, was also present and addressed the participants on the work of the AACC, with particular emphasis on the “Africa: My Home. My Future.” campaign and the important role of Christian youth in Tanzania in contributing to Africa’s transformation.

We are proud of the Kkkt_umojawavijana and grateful for its continued investment in young people and their leadership. We pray that God will continue to sustain, strengthen and guide the Church as it nurtures a generation of faithful, visionary and transformative young leaders.

May God bless the ELCT, its youth, and the work of the Church across Tanzania and Africa. 🙏🏾🌍

🌍🇱🇸On 2nd August 2026, we successfully concluded the AACC youth training on Faith, Gender and SRHR in Lesotho with a focus on turning learning into action. The day began with a devotion from James 4:10, reminding participants that humility and complete dependence on God are the foundation of faithful service. Interactive sessions explored themes of bodily autonomy, gender-based violence, abuse of power, healthy relationships, and community responsibility through a faith-based lens, encouraging participants to confront difficult social realities with compassion and courage.

The training concluded with practical planning sessions where participants developed action plans to promote SRHR awareness through school outreaches, menstrual health education, community seminars, and church engagement. A shared commitment to begin a nationwide campaign promoting menstrual hygiene and breaking menstruation related stigma emerged and an action plan for this developed. We are grateful to God for this opportunity to share and serve in Gods mission, grateful to the All Africa Conference of Churches and Lesotho Evangelical Church In Southern Africa(LECSA) for making this training possible and to the LECSA youth leadership for making the training possible.

🌍🇱🇸Day 2 of the AACC Youth training on Faith, Gender and SRHR in Lesotho was deeply reflective, interactive and creatively engaging, as participants continued to explore Scripture in relation to real-life social issues affecting their communities.

The day featured several Contextual Bible Study sessions. The first was based on 2 Samuel 11:2–5, where participants critically engaged issues of power abuse and consent, drawing important lessons on responsibility, integrity and respect for human dignity.

The second study focused on menstrual health using Luke 8:43–48, highlighting issues of stigma, healing, inclusion and the importance of supporting women and girls with dignity and care.

The final Bible study was drawn from Genesis 39:4–12, exploring intergenerational relationships, manipulation and abuse of power, with strong reflections on maintaining ethical conduct and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

The day concluded with a vibrant entertainment session, where participants creatively expressed their learnings through drama, poetry, dance and music, reinforcing key messages in an engaging and memorable way. We thank God for the sweet fellowship we are having ☺️☺️

Day 1 of the AACC Youth leaders training on Faith, Gender & SRHR in Lesotho was both inspiring and enriching. The day opened with a devotion from Galatians 6:9, encouraging perseverance in doing good, followed by opening remarks that reaffirmed the church’s mission to serve and transform lives.

Participants then engaged in an informative session led by Dr. P**e Solomon Moabi, exploring the state of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Lesotho. Discussions focused on maternal health, HIV prevention, adolescent wellbeing, teenage pregnancy, gender equality, menstrual hygiene, and the importance of youth-friendly health services.

The day concluded with introducing participants to Contextual Bible Study, demonstrating how Scripture can help faith communities respond to social challenges with compassion and action.

Looking forward to the second day ☺️☺️
