..If nature is under threat we are. If nature collapses we do too. Nature is our life-support system. From the fresh air, we breathe to the soil that nurtures

our crops, people need natural resources to survive and thrive. But, we're losing nature faster than it can restore itself yet, Kenya is a nature-based economy. This is a direct threat to our future. We are the first generation to know we are destroying our home. And we could be the last that can do anything about it. Be part of the movement that will ensure we live in harmony with nature. There is lots we can do together!

Each of us has a role to play in protecting and promoting biodiversity. It is not something far away in forests and national parks, itโ€™s all around us, in the spaces we live in every day.

The corner of your compound.
Your shamba.
Your school.
Your estate.

That is where biodiversity begins.

Leave some grass longer. Plant indigenous trees. Grow flowers. Put out water for birds.

Small actions lead to big impact.

Because biodiversity does not only start in protected areas... It starts kwa gate yako. ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช

๐Ÿฏ What does mangrove conservation taste like?

In Mashundwani, Lamu, it tastes like honey.

What began as a few traditional hives is growing into a modern apiculture enterprise. Today, 20 members of the Mashundwani Beekeeping User Group are producing mangrove honey, strengthening livelihoods, and showing how healthy mangrove ecosystems can support thriving communities.

With support, training, and new skills, the group is improving honey production, building resilience, and creating new opportunities for economic growth.

โ€œThis project is about more than honey; itโ€™s about education and stabilityโ€ฆ We encourage each other and stay motivated.โ€

Pollinators are not just bees and butterflies. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ

They include birds, beetles, flies, bats, and even elephants, all playing a role in helping plants reproduce and supporting the food systems we rely on.

In fact, one in every three bites of food we eat depends on animal pollinators.

Beyond food, pollinators help sustain ecosystems that provide medicines, fibres, building materials, and support carbon storage.

Protecting pollinators means protecting habitats, reducing harmful chemicals, and conserving the species that quietly keep nature working. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š
