Sometimes a parent arrives at one of our events simply planning to watch their child perform.

They leave having met four other families. Someone shares a contact. Someone else recommends a school that worked for their child.

A parent mentions a therapist. Someone sitting beside them says "we understand" and those two words do more for that family in that moment than any programmed or policy document ever could.

The connections formed in those rooms are real and they continue long after the event ends.

Years from now, a contestant may not remember every detail of the competition.

But they will remember the person who encouraged them when they were nervous backstage.

The friend they made during rehearsals who still messages them, the sound of an audience applauding specifically for them.

The moment their parent looked across the room and smiled in a way they had never seen before and the first time they stood in front of a crowd and felt completely at home.

Those are the milestones this platform is in the business of creating, and they stay with a person for life.

One of the most powerful things a platform like this creates is visibility. And visibility leads somewhere real.

A conversation with the right person at the right moment, a connection that opens a door, an invitation to speak somewhere new and a media feature that reaches thousands of people who had never heard of autism advocacy before.

Our title holders step into a community of families, organizations and professionals that continues to grow, and what they build within it is limited only by how much they are willing to show up.

What does autism advocacy have to do with planting trees?

More than people expect.

Autism Champions for Climate creates real opportunities for persons living with autism to participate in environmental action and community development as contributors and leaders.

Our title holders carry more than a message. Through this initiative they help build something visible, something lasting, something that stays in a community long after the event itself is a memory. 🌱

This October, the Autism Champions for Climate family comes together again for a day of environmental action, learning, inclusion and community.

📍 City Primary School

Children, young people, families, partners and members of the wider community will come together to take part in activities that remind us that everyone has a place in caring for the planet.

This year, we are also supporting the Special Needs Unit at City Primary School, which serves 342 learners, including children with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other neurodevelopmental conditions.

Every purchase helps us support the Special Needs Unit with therapy, sensory and classroom materials while contributing to the activities planned for Mazingira Day.

Maybe you have always wanted to speak about autism in your community but never had a platform to stand on.

Maybe you are a parent who has been having these conversations quietly for years

A teacher who has seen things in a classroom that the rest of the world needs to hear about.

A therapist, a professional, or someone who believes that inclusion matters and wants to do something real about it.

The Autism Ambassador category was built for exactly that person. Mombasa needs voices willing to use it, and the platform is ready for whoever steps forward.

As Light of Autism Kenya 2019/2020, Sarah entered the Mr. & Miss Autism Kenya pageant with a dream and came out with something much bigger.

She found confidence. She found her voice. And along the way, doors opened that took her to places she never imagined.

Today, Sarah travels, speaks, advocates and continues to grow in her journey of self-advocacy.

Sometimes, all someone needs is a chance to be seen.
