This week, Lightup Impact featured Doors of Hope Kenya in their Grassroots Spotlight, highlighting how we've trained 53+ girls in digital skills and opened pathways into work, entrepreneurship, and learning for young people and persons with disabilities in communities that are too often left out.

Look closely at that frame. Nails hammered in one by one. String pulled tight, row after row. Then the weave begins.

Today our mothers, caregivers and youth with disabilities sat down to learn mat-making from building the loom to the finished mat. These are women raising children with cerebral palsy. In between therapy visits, feeding and caring, they learned a skill that can put money in their own hands.

Every mat that leaves this room is income for a family that needs it.

Today we celebrated International Youth day at our new centre Tuffoam by adding a skill to our students, we were taught by one of us on how to make soap and Jik and each one of them has promised to start making for themselves and sell to earn a living
What an empowerment 🙏
