In partnership with the County Government of Embu and United Nations Development Programme - UNDP we have successfully concluded a 3 days of learning, dialogue and strengthening capacity in Embu County.

How can county revenue and budgets better respond to the different needs of women, men, youth and other marginalized groups in our communities?

That question has been at the heart of a 3-day capacity-building workshop, bringing together Embu County Government officials and County Assembly Members to strengthen their knowledge and practice on Gender Mainstreaming, Gender-Responsive Budgeting (GRB), Own Source Revenue (OSR), and the analysis of county Bills and budget frameworks.

Through practical sessions and discussions, participants have explored how gender and inclusion can be meaningfully reflected in revenue planning, budgeting and public finance decisions—moving beyond policy commitments towards approaches that can contribute to more equitable and responsive public resources.

As the workshop concludes, the focus remains on translating the knowledge gained into stronger systems, better decision-making and more inclusive county governance.

🇰🇪 BRIDGING GENERATIONS, AMPLIFYING YOUTH VOICES! ✊🏾

Today, we are at the SDGs Academy for Children in Limuru for the Youth in Policy and Governance: Intergenerational Dialogue on Kenya’s Youth Leadership, Governance and Democratic Participation.

The dialogue brings together young people and stakeholders for meaningful conversations on youth leadership, governance and democratic participation, creating space to share perspectives, connect across generations and explore pathways for greater youth participation.

The programme features:

The Youth in Policy and Governance: National Mandate Launch and Closing Dialogue on Kenya’s Youth Leadership and Peace Agenda is happening now in Nairobi! 🔥

For the past year, young people have been engaging, developing priorities and shaping practical recommendations for a Kenya where youth voices don’t just enter the room—they shape decisions.

Today, we’re asking:

What happens when youth priorities move from paper to action?

The dialogue is focusing on three key areas:

🗳️ Governance, Civic Participation & Peace
🕊️ Youth Peace & Security
💼 Youth Employment, Digital Economy & AI

We are also officially launching four youth-led outputs:

These outputs capture young people’s priorities, experiences and recommendations while providing practical pathways for meaningful youth participation at national and county levels.

We invite youth, civil society, government and development partners to engage with these outputs and join the journey from policy to implementation.

We’ve officially concluded two high-impact days of regional learning, peer exchange, and technical capacity building alongside UNA Finland, UNA Uganda, and UNA Tanzania

Day 2 Highlights:
Feedback & Expert Q&A: Interactive sessions refining harvested outcome statements and addressing key field challenges.
💻Hands-On Application: Finalizing group case studies using Miro to map complex behavioral, institutional, and policy changes.
🎯 Actionable Evidence: Equipping regional CSOs with practical tools for adaptive management, donor reporting, and policy influence.

A huge thank you to all in-person and virtual participants, instructors, and partner organizations for making this workshop a success!

🤝 Strengthening Youth Participation in Policy and Governance

Yesterday, colleagues from SDGs Kenya Forum, AUNYD and CRISSP held a productive engagement with the Embassy of Ireland in Kenya to reflect on the progress of the “Youth in Policy and Governance Programme” and discuss the next phase of implementation.

The meeting provided an opportunity to take stock of progress under the programme, including the development of mandates focusing on **Governance and Peace** and **Employment and AI**, which will be launched soon. We also discussed the next steps, upcoming activities and opportunities to strengthen meaningful youth participation in policy and governance.

We are grateful to the Embassy of Ireland for its continued partnership and support in creating spaces and opportunities for young people to contribute to policy processes and shape the decisions that affect their lives.

We look forward to building on the progress made so far and advancing the programme's vision of **meaningful youth engagement in policy and governance in Kenya.** 🇰🇪🌍
