🌍 Regional High-Level

Emerging EU sustainability frameworks like the EUDR, CSDDD, CSRD, and CBAM are reshaping global trade rules. Africa’s engagement is critical to ensure these shifts advance, rather than undermine, its economic and social development.

Given this background, Econews Africa- ENA in partnership with SEATINI UGANDA, under the umbrella of the East African Trade Network, is convening a Regional High-Level to critically examine these emerging policies and their implications on African agricultural trade particularly for smallholder farmers and the coffee, cocoa, and tea sectors.

: “Reassessing the Impacts of EU Trade Policies on African Agricultural Trade: Advancing , , and Policy Solutions for in the EAC and SADC Sub-Regions.”

This platform brings together:
✔️ Trade experts from EAC & SADC
✔️ Farmer groups and producers
✔️ Civil society and academia
✔️ Cultural institutions and regional bodies
✔️ Policy Makers from EAC & SADC

🔍 Together, we will:
✅ Interrogate the implications of EU trade regulations on Africa’s agricultural value chains
✅ Co-develop policy recommendations that promote equitable, inclusive, and sustainable trade
✅ Strengthen regional coordination and strategic advocacy to amplify Africa’s voice in global trade governance
