Through Sanara, The GoDown has marked an important milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the County Government of Nakuru to support the development of the County's Culture and Arts Policy.

The partnership will support the creation of a policy framework that strengthens cultural governance, safeguards heritage, empowers artists and creative enterprises, and positions culture as a driver of inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.

The MoU was signed during a stakeholder forum presided over by H.E. David Kones, Deputy Governor of Nakuru County, bringing together county leadership, artists, creatives, and cultural stakeholders.

At The GoDown, we are proud to partner with counties in strengthening cultural policy and creating enabling environments for the cultural and creative industries.

Have you seen Dunga Road lately? Last Sunday, the street looked a little different.

What is usually a busy industrial corridor was transformed into a space animated by colour, greenery, music, dance, and conversation as Nairobi welcomed the 2026 Innovate4Cities (I4C26) Conference—the first time the global conference has been held in Africa.

The activation built on years of work under the Dunga Road Renewal Project, through which The GoDown has been working with communities and partners to explore how culture can contribute to urban regeneration and more inclusive city-making.

The day reflected the idea that streets can be more than spaces of movement—they can be places where people connect, participate, and collectively imagine the future of cities.
