We recently hosted a legally grounded briefing specifically tailored for expatriates and their families residing in Kenya. The session provided a comprehensive overview of the current immigration landscape, with a focus on work permit classes and the newly introduced categories for spouses and adult dependents.

We also explored the pathways to citizenship and permanent residence, alongside the critical link between immigration status and asset acquisition, such as property and land ownership.

By addressing common challenges regarding dependent rules and anticipated policy changes, the session successfully equipped attendees with the practical knowledge needed to make compliant, informed decisions for their family’s future and financial planning in Kenya.

Something powerful happens when people realize they’re not alone.

On Tuesday, at UNKLESA, our member and fascilitator Dr. Brigitte Wandji created space for a real conversation about midlife — not as a crisis, not as decline — but as a natural transition.

The session was open, interactive, and refreshingly honest. There were questions, shared experiences, laughter, and moments of quiet reflection. We spoke about the changes many feel but rarely name , shifts in energy, focus, emotions, and relationships and why they matter.

The biggest reminder?
Midlife is not something to fear. It’s something to understand.

Participants left with the UNKLESA Midlife Toolkit, a practical guidance to navigate this stage with clarity, strength, and intention.

Thanks to our friend Dr. Bree! Conversations like this matter. When we normalize them, we empower each other. 💛

Sometimes growth starts with a simple pause—and a little curiosity about who we are.
Led by Sameer Kermalli, Today’s UNKLESA session reminded us that by understanding our own traits and personality types, we don’t just learn about ourselves. We learn how to understand others better, strengthen our relationships, read our surroundings, and navigate life with more confidence.
It was engaging, reflective, and deeply human. A gentle reminder that when you learn to deal with yourself first, everything else begins to make more sense.
Thank you to everyone who showed up open-minded and curious. This is how meaningful growth begins.

As the year comes to a close, let’s remember who the future truly belongs to—our children.
In line with UNICEF’s theme “My Day, My Rights”, UNKLESA proudly presents “If My Voice Could Paint”—a short film bringing childhood imagination and voices to life.
Directed by Mahjabin Ferdoush, our Training & Development Coordinator, the film was screened at UNON during World Children’s Day, and now we’re excited to share it with all of you!
A heartfelt thanks to UNICEF Kenya for supporting this initiative and helping amplify children’s voices.

🎥 Watch, reflect, and share—because every child deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated. 💛
