Last year, with support from Kenya Community Development Foundation, Youth Agenda under "The Towards Open Contracting Project" commissioned a study to assess the status of implementation of the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities program, using Nairobi County as a case study. The study assessed the level of transparency and accountability, and examined compliance with the 30 percent reservation requirement, the distribution of opportunities among youth, women, and persons with disabilities, and the structural barriers affecting effective participation. Today, in partnership with TI-Kenya, we convened a multi-stakeholder forum to validate the findings and build consensus on practical reforms. Bringing together county officials, oversight actors, private sector representatives, and Special Interest Groups, the forum focused on strengthening accountability mechanisms and charting a clear, evidence-based roadmap to enhance AGPO implementation and ensure meaningful economic inclusion.

Opportunity for young people aged 18–30 in our community
We’re sharing a short survey from the Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education (ABC), working with the African Leadership Centre (ALC), to better understand the experiences, aspirations and learning needs of young people across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.

The survey is for young people aged 16–30 and takes around 15–20 minutes to complete. Your honest responses will help shape future education and training programmes designed to support young people into further study or employment.
🔹 Participation is voluntary
🔹 Responses are anonymous and analysed in aggregate
🔹 Participants who complete the survey can choose to enter a prize draw as a thank-you for their time
⏰ The survey will only be open for a limited period, so we encourage eligible members to take part as soon as possible.

Youth Agenda (YAA) is proud to share that our Program Officer, Brian Sengeli, represented Kenya at the Youth Democracy Network Africa & MENA Regional Meeting in Nairobi. At a time when democratic fatigue is rising and authoritarian narratives are becoming increasingly persuasive, such platforms are essential, particularly in a region where nearly 70% of the population is under 30 and youth engagement is central to stability and governance. The meeting moved beyond theory to interrogate power and democratic practice, strengthening skills in public speaking, advocacy strategy, and proposal development while providing direct engagement with key institutions. Delegates visited Kenya’s Parliament and the United Nations offices in Nairobi to examine how multilateral institutions support governance and peacebuilding across Africa and globally. The diversity of perspectives from across Africa and MENA enriched critical discussions on defending democratic norms, building credibility within political systems, and making youth participation strategic and impactful.

Youth Agenda is proud to introduce the “From Surplus to Service” Campaign, an initiative designed to close the infrastructure gap faced by youth‑led organizations across Kenya. Many of these organizations struggle without essential office equipment, limiting their ability to operate effectively and deliver lasting impact. This campaign seeks to change that by collecting functional equipment that is no longer in active use and redistributing it to emerging youth‑led organizations. With your contribution, these organizations will gain the tools they need to strengthen their institutions, enhance their effectiveness, and amplify their impact in driving meaningful change.

Today, Youth Agenda hosted ForumCiv Eastern & Southern Africa under the Our Rights, Our Future (OROF) programme. The discussion focused on our Organisational Capacity Assessment (OCA), reviewing progress, reassessing targets, and strengthening our governance and operational systems. This process is critical to ensuring that our institutional growth matches our programmatic ambition. We appreciate ForumCiv’s continued support in strengthening partner capacity and investing in sustainable, accountable youth-led institutions

Today, The Youth Agenda has convened youth-serving organisations through the and Yetu Consortia to develop a collective advocacy strategy on youth participation in the electoral process.
