Journalists For Justice

Journalists For Justice Africa's web portal for International Criminal Justice.

Journalists for Justice (JFJustice) is a non-partisan organisation administratively housed by the Kenyan Human Rights Commission, to promote the goals of:

(a) Combating all forms of impunity arising from the Post-Election Violence that afflicted Kenya in 2008 by promoting a balanced discussion of the international criminal justice system in the media and

(b) Advocating justice and reparat

ions for victims. The project achieves these goals through public information programs on the work of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and other specialist tribunals; media training and outreach programs; radio programs, media monitoring and research, media advocacy, materials development and information dissemination activities and victim support programs. The mission of JFJustice is: to promote robust public discussion of ways to end the impunity associated with violations of humanitarian law, advocate justice for all victims of international crimes; and, to work with other people of goodwill who share the same values.

Yesterday, Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War released a list of alleged Kenyan nationals fighting for Russian forces.

The list runs into the hundreds—lending weight to earlier assessments, including Kenya’s NIS estimate of about 1,000 recruits.

However, discrepancies are evident, some names appear multiple times with different dates of birth, and the information remains difficult to independently verify.

For over a year, the International Criminal Court - ICC has been investigating sexual misconduct allegations against its chief prosecutor, Karim Khan. A judges’ review is now out, and the findings are split.

A investigation found evidence of “non-consensual sexual contact.” But judges said it did not meet the legal threshold for misconduct, citing gaps and unresolved inconsistencies via
The New York Times.

The Assembly of States Parties says the disciplinary process is ongoing and confidential, no decisions have been taken, and cautions against drawing conclusions from media reports as it reviews the findings. Coalition for the International Criminal Court.

🌙✨ Eid Mubarak

As we mark the end of Ramadan, we join Muslim communities in celebrating Eid al-Fitr — a time of reflection, compassion, and renewal.

Eid reminds us of the values that also guide our work: justice, dignity, and care for one another. At a time when many families continue to seek truth, accountability, and healing, these values matter more than ever.

May this day bring peace to homes, strength to communities, and hope to those still waiting for justice.

🕊️ Eid Mubarak.
