Yesterday 25th July, 2026 Kenya YMCA held a wonderful and colourful graduation of 84 lifeguards, Pool Attendants, Basic Swimming Instructors and Aquatic First Aiders/CPR/AED, 29 level 2 coaches, 27 level 1 coaches in Observing World drowning Prevention day. The day was a celebration of hard work, resilience, commitment , discipline and Value for human life. They also took the Oath of practice and they were charged with Nine bear minimums going forward.
We wish them the very best in their course of service to communities and humanity.

The Guest of Honour Mr Teddy Wamunyu President Kenya Aquatics encouraged the graduates to remain vigilant and be steadfast to prevent, rescue and save lives.

The class is prepared and now ready to go and be THE GUARDIANS OF THE WATER.

Do you know that 25th July is World Drowning Prevention Day? Now you know. 🫡
Kenya YMCA Aquatics Centre will be celebrating this year's Drowning Prevention Day by graduating over 80 lifeguards who underwent a six month training programme.
On the World Drowning Prevention day governments, communities and stakeholders are called upon to advocate and raise awareness on drowning prevention mechanisms to ensure the world achieves ZERO deaths through drowning.
One way is to ensure that swimming pools are properly manned by Certified and properly trained Lifeguards who are able to prevent and respond during emergencies.
The graduating class of January - June 2026 have been properly trained to prevent drowning through, Communicating properly with patrons, Enforcing Swimming pool rules and regulations, Eliminating Hazards, Conducting Facility Safety checks, Surveillance to identify early signs of swimming distress that can lead to drowning and responding effectively whenever there is an incidence.
Apart from that they have been trained on Aquatic First Aid, CPR and AED To ensure high response and survival in case there is an emergency and that proper care is given to the patron. Thankyou to Safetynet Consultancy Limited for training and empowering our Lifeguards with the necessary essential skills.
As a training Centre we advocate for training standards that contribute a long way in drowning prevention.
Join us on 25th July to witness the oath taking and graduation of the over 80 lifeguards who will be crowned to be THE GUARDIANS OF THE WATER.

Zero deaths by drowning can be achieved and thats why as Kenya YMCA Aquatic Training Centre we are in the forefront of training professional Lifeguards through intensive well coordinated and organized curriculum. Remember ANY ONE CAN DROWN BUT NO ONE SHOULD.

The January - June 2026 Lifesaving students practice water polo skills. Kenya Ymca Aquatic Centre is dedicated to promoting the sport across Africa. As a training centre for coaches and Lifeguards we endeavour to teach them the basics of the game.
Don't be left out in our next intake for the July-December 2026 lifesaving class. Intake is ongoing and visit us today for assessment.

Today we had an impromptu Continuous Assessment Test for the January-June 2026 class. Maintaining professional standards has been one of our key deliverables in the Lifesaving training. We keep equipping our students with proper skills that make them the guardians of the water. On Saturday 7th the Main Basic practical Exam will usher them in to the Advance training and we wish them all the best
