Over the past week, we have been conducting Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Safeguarding Trainings with youth groups across Homa Bay, Kilifi, Siaya, Kisumu, and Nyakach under the Financial Inclusion For Youth And MSMEs in Agriculture (FIYMA Program)

Through these trainings , 32 youth groups strengthened their understanding of safeguarding, disability inclusion, reporting mechanisms, and the importance of creating safe spaces where every young person can participate, grow, and thrive.

Because when young people are included and empowered, they become leaders in building stronger communities and more inclusive agricultural value chains.

Women’s Empowerment Link team led by Programs coordinator Jane Kinyanjui & Levin Agutu yesterday joined the Nakuru County Civil Society Organizations Forum (NACCSOF) and the Nakuru County Government for the Governors’ Roundtable themed "In Pursuit of the Devolution Dream."

The dialogue provided a platform to reflect on devolution, service delivery, and governance, culminating in the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the County Government of Nakuru and NACCSOF, reaffirming a shared commitment to collaboration, accountability, and citizen participation.

Through our partnership with DCA, Women’s Empowerment Link co-supported the convening as part of our continued commitment to advancing inclusive governance and ensuring community voices help shape decisions that affect their lives.

Women’s Empowerment Link (WEL) Women's Empowerment Link through the FIYMA Program, is training Community Gender Champions on Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), while introducing them to WEL’s mission, vision, and organizational policies.

These champions will support communities to identify barriers, promote inclusion, and contribute to the development of financial products that empower youth and MSMEs in agriculture.

Women’s Empowerment Link Regional Coordinator Nurat Wamaya joined FIYMA Program consortium partners in Migori County to engage county leadership, youth-led agribusinesses, and farmer groups on unlocking opportunities for young people and women in agriculture.
From discussions with the County Commissioner to visits with a youth-focused SACCO and a poultry enterprise, one message stood out: when young people and women have access to finance, leadership opportunities, and safe, supportive systems, communities thrive.
This visit was an important step toward a more inclusive agricultural future — strengthening safeguarding systems and creating more room for women and youth to lead and grow their agri-businesses.
We’re excited to keep building pathways for financial inclusion, women’s leadership, and sustainable livelihoods across Migori and beyond.
