𝙰𝚌𝚛𝚘𝚜𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚆𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚗, 𝙽𝚢𝚊𝚗𝚣𝚊, 𝙽𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚑 𝚁𝚒𝚏𝚝, 𝙲𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚕 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙲𝚘𝚊𝚜𝚝 𝚛𝚎𝚐𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜, Women's Empowerment Link (WEL), as the consortium lead on Safeguarding, Gender, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), is working alongside FIYMA Program consortium partners East Africa Market Development Associates Ltd.Micro Enterprise Support Programme Trust (MESPT) National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA CLUSA) to strengthen the capacity of field teams through our respective Regional Coordinators. to strengthen field staff capacity to embed safeguarding and inclusion in their day-to-day engagement with young people and MSMEs in agriculture.
In collaboration with Light for the World Kenya, the training equips frontline teams with practical approaches to disability inclusion and Young Women-Centric Design, helping ensure that 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻, 𝗺𝗲𝗻, 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗲𝘀 are safe, included, respected, and meaningfully engaged.
The FIYMA Program, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation initiative, is advancing more inclusive pathways to financial and economic opportunities for young people.
Because inclusion is more than a commitment, it is about how we design, engage, and deliver every day.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵.

As part of the FIYMA Program, Women's Empowerment Link (The Official WEL Page), together with Light for the World Kenya, facilitated a capacity strengthening training for the staff Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust - MESPT on 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚐 𝚠𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚗-𝚌𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚍 𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚒𝚐𝚗, 𝚍𝚒𝚜𝚊𝚋𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢 𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚕𝚞𝚜𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚜𝚊𝚏𝚎𝚐𝚞𝚊𝚛𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐.

WEL is taking Safeguarding, GEDSI and financial inclusion into action across 𝚂𝚒𝚊𝚢𝚊 𝙲𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚢, 𝙶𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚞𝚗𝚐𝚞𝚛𝚒 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙶𝚊𝚝𝚞𝚗𝚍𝚞 𝚒𝚗 𝙺𝚒𝚊𝚖𝚋𝚞 𝙲𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚢, 𝙱𝚞𝚗𝚐𝚘𝚖𝚊 𝙲𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚢 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙽𝚢𝚊𝚖𝚒𝚛𝚊 𝚒𝚗 𝙺𝚒𝚜𝚒𝚒 𝙲𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚢, under the FIYMA Program.

Through these trainings, WEL is engaging young women, young men and diverse youth groups to strengthen their understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and access to finance across the six agricultural value chains: 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘆, 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 & 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 & 𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗲𝘀, 𝗽𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 & 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀.

The focus is practical: identify safeguarding risks, understand reporting mechanisms, strengthen inclusion, and connect young people to opportunities that can support their businesses and livelihoods.

𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱.

Last week, 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗔𝗶𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 visited Nakuru County through WEL’s 𝚆𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚗 𝚒𝚗 𝙿𝚘𝚠𝚎𝚛 𝚘𝚏 𝙿𝚛𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚐𝚛𝚊𝚖𝚖𝚎, implemented in partnership with DanChurchAid Kenya .

During the visit, they met community activists, survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, and faith leaders working to prevent and respond to GBV while also reflecting on the work that remains to ensure every woman and girl can live free from violence.

At one of the Rescue centers, a WEL partner organization, they also learned 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝗜𝗚𝗔𝘀) 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

The visit offered more than a glimpse into the work. It created space to listen, learn, witness progress, and understand what more needs to be done to end GBV.

For the Parish Collection Volunteers, these firsthand experiences provide stories they can carry back to their churches and communities in Denmark ,building greater understanding, solidarity, and support for continued action.

The progress matters. The voices matter. And so does the work that remains. Together, we keep pushing for communities where women and girls can live safely, with dignity and freedom from violence.
