The pre-COP talks in Fiji this week fell short of the leadership and ambition the climate crisis demands. With leaders from some of the world’s richest and most polluting countries absent, the message is deeply concerning.

As climate disasters intensify, communities on the frontlines cannot afford another COP where rich governments sidestep their responsibilities.

Next month, in Türkiye must be a turning point. Rich governments must step up with ambitious climate finance commitments and ensure the richest polluters pay their fair share.

As Nafkote Dabi, Oxfam’s Climate Policy Lead, says the time for leaders to take responsibility is now. The world needs action, not more empty promises.

Climate justice cannot wait.

Hear from Beirut-based photojournalist and filmmaker Firas Haidar who has documented violations committed by the Israeli authorities.

October marks two years since the war on Lebanon by Israeli authorities began. Nearly 9,000 people have been killed in Lebanon since attacks first started on October 8 2023, including 21 journalists and media workers. Eight of those journalists were killed just since March 2.

The war isn't over, and the Israeli authorities continue to occupy Lebanese territory, killing civilians and destroying homes and livelihoods.
