Q***r movements are leading the way to a future where everyone, no matter their gender or identity, can truly be free and equal. Everyone should be able to make decisions about their bodies. Grassroots action like this is vital to thriving societies where everyone has a voice. 💪💪💪

Against a backdrop of rising fascism and rights rollbacks, we MUST stand in solidarity with movements defending the rights of le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, intersex, asexual people and those with other diverse identities and orientations. 🏳️‍🌈

New Equals Hope episode is out! The Privatization of Education and Plunder of the Common Goods.

What happens when the commons are enclosed, education is financialized, and insecurity becomes normal?

In this episode, economist Guy Standing joins Max Lawson and Grazielle Custódio to discuss how privatization and financialization are deepening inequality and creating a new global class: the Precariat.

From profit-driven universities to the case for basic income, this is a conversation about reclaiming dignity, security, and public life.

Anti-rights movements are using their wealth and power to attack LGBTQIA+ people and roll back human rights.

📣 Everyone has the right to be safe and free from violence, fear, and coercion.
We have to stand together to stop this rollback. Solidarity without exception.

A restored pond in Bangladesh is helping the Rostom Ali Chowdhury Para community access cleaner water and a safer shared space.

With support from Oxfam, CODEC and local residents, the community decided how the pond should be used and protected through the Blue Economy and Inclusive Development for Climate Justice (BID4CJ) project.

The project is part of wider work to restore local ecosystems and support communities facing climate-related droughts and disasters.

New EQUALS’s episode is out! Muskism: How Big Tech Is Reshaping Power, Politics, and Democracy

Is Elon Musk an outlier or a signal of a deeper transformation in capitalism, technology, and power?

This week, we explore “Muskism,” a system where governments, communication, infrastructure, and even public debate increasingly depend on private tech companies.

With guests Quinn Slobodian and Ben Tarnoff, we unpack:
👉 Big Tech and political power
👉 AI and inequality
👉 The growing dependence on private digital infrastructure
👉 Social media monopolies
👉 Why regulating tech giants is so difficult
👉 Whether democratic alternatives are still possible

Later, Hana Ivanhoe joins the conversation to discuss who loses most in this system and what reclaiming power could look like.

Ahead of the founding committee meeting of the International Panel on Inequality (IPI) in Johannesburg later this week—bringing together global inequality experts and featuring engagement with President Ramaphosa—EQUALS speak with committee member Dr. Wanga Zembe-Mkabile.

Inequality is often treated as background noise in global policy discussions — a persistent issue, but not an urgent one. In reality, it is an emergency shaping who lives, who thrives, and who is left behind.

Wanga explores inequality as lived experience — not just income gaps, but a system that determines health outcomes and limits the idea of meritocracy itself.

We also explore the case for an IPI: what it would take to elevate inequality to the level of global climate governance, and whether global institutions are ready for that shift.

Listen now:

Dr. Wanga Zembe-Mkabile on the human face of inequality, and how an International Panel on Inequality could inform and reshape global policy to end the inequality emergency.

Our research shows that the high-carbon lifestyles of the super-rich are using up the world’s remaining carbon budget.

It also shows how billionaires use their political and economic influence to keep the world dependent on fossil fuels for private profit.

It’s time to .

Ahead of the major international climate conference COP30 in Belem, Brazil, new Oxfam research finds that the high-carbon lifestyles of the super-rich are blowing through the world’s remaining carbon budget - the amount of CO2 that can be emitted while avoiding climate disaster. The research al...

This win belongs to every frontline community that refused to be silenced and every Pacific youth who charged the way. The world's highest court said polluters must pay. This week, the UN agreed and strengthened global momentum for climate justice!

The fight continues. But this win is for people & planet.
