INTEGRATED BLACK SOLDIER FLIES (BSF) FOR ANIMAL FEED PRODUCTION PROJECT

The story: The Integrated Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Production Project empowers 15 local youth through intensive training in organic feed formulation. These participants will revitalize local ecosystems by providing farmers with organic fertilizers that restore acidic soil to a healthy $pH$ balance.Through this initiative, local farmers gain access to affordable, high-quality organic feed for poultry, rabbits, fish, and pigs. This accessibility drives food security as farmers expand their livestock production. Furthermore, the BSF component champions a circular economy by converting organic waste into valuable, reusable products.By processing cooked and organic waste, the project removes environmental hazards that otherwise clog sewage systems and cause flooding. Ultimately, this initiative builds a cleaner, greener, and safer environment.We thank Tuifund and The Giving Exchange for investing in our youth and a sustainable ecosystem.

🧠 Mental Health Group Therapy – A Lifeline for Many

In Kenya, more than 1 in every 4 people visiting outpatient services suffer from some form of mental health condition—yet over 75% receive no formal care (Kenya Ministry of Health, 2021). The stigma, lack of access, and limited trained professionals often leave the most vulnerable without help.

At Otto Benecker Foundation, we are bridging that gap.

Through our monthly group therapy sessions, we are providing safe, accessible spaces for emotional support, psychoeducation, and healing. These sessions especially focus on:

✅ Young people facing depression and anxiety
✅ Survivors of trauma, abuse, and gender-based violence
✅ Individuals struggling with substance abuse
✅ Caregivers and parents under stress

Led by trained mental health professionals and community facilitators, our group sessions empower participants to speak up, connect, and learn coping strategies.

📍Locations: Mathare, Dagoretti, and surrounding communities
📅 Frequency: Every month
👥 Attendance: Open and confidential – No one is turned away

Mental health is a right—not a privilege.
Together, we are restoring dignity, building resilience, and breaking stigma.
