Over the past two days, Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Kenya joined policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, development partners, academia and young professionals from across Africa at the inaugural Green Works for Africa (GW4A) Forum 2026, organized by and partners.

We were especially proud to see our DOT Climate Champions at the heart of these conversations. Through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) Toolkit, they are working with communities to identify challenges, develop locally relevant solutions and lead community-driven climate action.

A few messages stood out:
๐Ÿ”น Africa must move from policies and pilots to systems that work and scale.
๐Ÿ”น Technology should build Africaโ€™s capabilities, not simply import solutions.
๐Ÿ”น People must be at the centre of the green transition.
๐Ÿ”น Circularity happens when systems, markets, skills and communities connect.

At DOT Kenya, we believe the future of green skills starts with Human-Centred Design - listening to people, understanding their realities and designing learning experiences around their needs and opportunities.

We must train for the industry and with the industry.

Our Climate Champions are showing what this looks like: young people equipped to learn, research, collaborate and lead change.

As we leave GW4A, one call remains:

Do the NEXT THING.
Donโ€™t just talk about change. Donโ€™t just pilot solutions.
Build. Test. Adapt. Scale. Keep moving. ๐ŸŒฑ

Through 's Youth-Led Climate Action at Scale Project, supported by the Cisco Foundation, Abigael transformed her passion for climate action into meaningful community impact.

* Founded ๐“๐ž๐ซ๐ซ๐š-๐˜๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐€๐Ÿ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐š, a youth-led initiative advancing sustainable practices and climate solutions.

Sustainability was always one of Cecilia's greatest goals as a Digital Champion for the Ganjisha Content Program.

Beyond mentoring and graduating content creators who are now making remarkable strides in the digital space, Cecilia Mwaura wanted to ensure the impact would continue long after the program ended.

That vision led to the birth a baby of Miliki Digital Space - a community-based organisation that continues to empower young people, nurture digital talent, and carry forward the legacy of the Ganjisha Content Program.

This is what lasting impact looks like: when a program inspires local leadership, and that leadership creates opportunities for others, long after the project has closed.
