Over the past two days, Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Kenya joined policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, development partners, academia and young professionals from across Africa at the inaugural Green Works for Africa (GW4A) Forum 2026, organized by and partners.
We were especially proud to see our DOT Climate Champions at the heart of these conversations. Through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) Toolkit, they are working with communities to identify challenges, develop locally relevant solutions and lead community-driven climate action.
A few messages stood out:
๐น Africa must move from policies and pilots to systems that work and scale.
๐น Technology should build Africaโs capabilities, not simply import solutions.
๐น People must be at the centre of the green transition.
๐น Circularity happens when systems, markets, skills and communities connect.
At DOT Kenya, we believe the future of green skills starts with Human-Centred Design - listening to people, understanding their realities and designing learning experiences around their needs and opportunities.
We must train for the industry and with the industry.
Our Climate Champions are showing what this looks like: young people equipped to learn, research, collaborate and lead change.
As we leave GW4A, one call remains:
Do the NEXT THING.
Donโt just talk about change. Donโt just pilot solutions.
Build. Test. Adapt. Scale. Keep moving. ๐ฑ
