The Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya, led by Chairperson Lilian Wangechi Mwangi , paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Chris K. Kiptoo, CBS, Principal Secretary, The National Treasury, to discuss ongoing reforms aimed to enhance internal audit functions across the country.

We requested the National Treasury to sponsor the Internal Auditors Bill for enactment into law, complementing the current PFM (amendment) bill, 2026.

The legal reforms are critical in strengthening governance, accountability, transparency, and effective oversight across both public and private sectors.

We appreciate the National Treasury’s continued support in strengthening the establishment of a robust legal and regulatory framework for the internal audit profession in Kenya.

The engagement gave us a chance to discuss ways to continue collaborating between the two institutions to promote accountability and transparency for national development.

The Chairperson was accompanied by the Treasurer, Joel Walucho, Governor Kibet Leonard, The CEO Dr. Joyce Omina and Legislation Technical Committee members Joash Dache and Abraham Limo.
