Have you read the first issue of the Feminist Magazine yet? ✨

Today we’re spotlighting a beautiful piece by Leanna Hengari (Namibia) from the Resistance Issue. It’s a reminder of the many lessons patriarchal systems try to teach girls… and the ones we must unlearn.

Meet our 2nd Cohort of the Transformative Justice Institute!

From Kenya to Somalia to DRC and across East Africa, they are actively doing powerful movement work rooted in care, accountability, and collective liberation.

For 5 days, they have gathered in our residential Institute to expand conversations about justice beyond carcerality and to strengthen community care without reproducing harm.

Grateful to the Feminist Opportunities Now Consortium and for supporting this bold feminist work and investing in feminist justice work.

Read about the transformative work they’re leading in the thread below. 👇🏾

Our Co-Executive Director , joined .fund_, and other feminist partners for the inaugural Feminist Conversation Space reflecting on girls’ organizing and feminist resourcing in East Africa.

At a time of escalating anti-rights backlash, shrinking civic space, and coordinated attacks on bodily autonomy, girls and young feminists are still organizing, and we discussed some ways in which funding can be brave enough to match this moment.

We are grateful to Stella Nderitu and .fund_ for opening the to resource girl-led and young feminist initiatives in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

Less than 1% of gender equality funding reaches feminist-led initiatives. This fund is a step toward changing that.

If you are a girl-led or young feminist collective in the region please apply.

Special thanks to and for the powerful reflections and solidarity in the room.
