PROJECT KICK-OFF IN QARDHO!

We’ve officially launched Phase 2 of our project “Promoting Resilience and Peaceful Co-existence for Climate Crisis Affected Communities in Somalia” in Qardho District, Puntland! This phase builds on the success of our work in Gedo and is now expanding to Qardho, Garowe, and Galkaayo in Puntland.

In the first video, our Area Coordinator shares insights on the project’s goals, key interventions, including greenhouses, water systems, and support for smallholder farmers and how we’re working hand-in-hand with local authorities and communities.

In the second video Hear directly from the community, their gratitude, reflections, and readiness to collaborate.

Together, we are building a future that is climate-smart, peaceful, and community-led.

NCA is currently conducting beneficiary registration through its local partner SADO in Bardhere District for un upcoming cash transfer program supported by NCA and WFP. The intervention aims to support 5,500 vulnerable households from October to December 2024, focusing on improving food security amidst ongoing challenges. The district has been severely affected by natural disasters, including devastating floods between January and May 2024 that displaced over 5,289 households, significantly damaging infrastructure, destroying homes and complicating relief efforts. The cash transfer program is part of a broader effort to provide immediate relief and enhance the resilience of communities affected by these climate shocks. Through this initiative, we hope to alleviate some of the immediate food security concerns and support the recovery and rebuilding process for those affected.
