FROM AWARD TO ACTION! 🎉

Remember last year’s MIL for Peace Bootcamp Hackathon? Sky Deaf group walked away with more than just an award they walked away with a mission.

Today, that mission comes to life in Bungoma as Sky Deaf officially begins their Media & Information Literacy training!

This incredible team is now equipping their community with the tools to navigate digital spaces safely, spot misinformation, and become responsible digital citizens especially within the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

A huge congratulations to the Sky Deaf team! Your journey from the hackathon stage to grassroots impact is exactly what youth empowerment is all about.

This milestone is also a testament to the power of partnerships. Thank you to UNESCO, the European Union, YMCA Kenya, Fecomo, and Social Media 4 Peace for making the original bootcamp possible and nurturing ideas that are now transforming communities.

Let’s celebrate this win for inclusion, media literacy, and youth-led change! 🇰🇪

Throwback to the energy of Day 1! ⚡️

Can you believe it's been a month since we launched our MIL Bootcamp? This video takes us right back to that buzz of anticipation and deep learning.

Together with UNESCO and partners , we dove headfirst into the big questions:
✔️ How do we balance free speech with digital responsibility?
✔️ What's our role in a world of information overload?
✔️ How can we, as youth, become forces for truth online in a peaceful way?

The room was full of Now and future leaders discussing, questioning, and scribbling notes that would become action plans. It was the perfect launchpad for a journey toward becoming savvy, ethical digital citizens.

Tag a bootcamp buddy or share your biggest takeaway from that first day in the comments! Let’s relive the inspiration.

Stay tuned for what’s next! 👀 The journey continues…

A historic step was taken today as young peacebuilders formally presented the Outcome Document of the Nairobi Stocktaking Conference on Youth, Peace and Security.

This document, forged from three days of deep reflection and strategic dialogue, captures our collective assessment of the past decade under UNSCR 2250 and the AU Continental Framework on YPS. More importantly, it charts a clear, actionable path forward.

It represents:
✅ A unified African voice of young people, policymakers, civil society, and institutions.
✅ A reaffirmation of youth as essential agents of peace and security.
✅ A renewed commitment to translating the YPS agenda from policy into tangible impact across the continent.

The final day of is diving into the core question: What are the vital signs of a healthy, peaceful society, and how do we measure our impact?

We’re grounding our work in 5 Vital Signs:
🔸 Agency – Youth as decision-makers
🔸 Legitimacy – Inclusive, accountable institutions
🔸 Trust – Within and across generations
🔸 Safety – Freedom from violence
🔸 Resources – Equitable access for all

These are guided by the enduring YPS principles: Participation, Protection, Prevention, Partnership, and Disengagement.

Our Measurement Approach:
To ensure we’re not just acting, but achieving, we’re using 3 Feedback Loops:
✅ Lived Experience – Centering youth voices
✅ Aligned Measures – Data that tracks real outcomes
✅ Expert Observation – Independent, informed insight

This framework is being applied across 5 Key Impact Areas, from fostering Positive Youth Agency to enhancing Institutional Responsiveness and reducing polarization.
