As Kenya marks 63 years of self-governance this Madaraka Day, we at Kianda Foundation celebrate a remarkable shared journey of progress, resilience, and transformation.

Our story began even before Kenya became a republic. For nearly 65 years, we have witnessed firsthand the power of education and empowerment in changing the lives of women, families, and communities across the country. We have seen more girls access quality education, more women enter leadership spaces, more entrepreneurs build sustainable livelihoods, and stronger systems emerge to support gender equality and social development.

These achievements are worth celebrating. They reflect the determination of generations of Kenyans who have worked to create greater opportunities for women and girls.

Yet, as we commemorate both Kenya's 63 years of self-governance and Kianda Foundation's upcoming 65th anniversary, we are reminded that the journey is far from complete. Too many women and girls still face barriers to education, economic participation, healthcare, leadership, and equal opportunity. Sustainable empowerment requires not only individual effort but also strong institutions, inclusive policies, equitable systems, and collective action.

As we reflect on how far we have come, we renew our commitment to building a future where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive, contribute, and lead.

This Madaraka Day, we celebrate our nation's progress while reaffirming our responsibility to continue advancing equality, dignity, and empowerment for all.

Happy Madaraka Day, Kenya.

Before the month of May comes to an end, we pause to celebrate the women who carry dreams in one hand and their children in the other. ❤️

In our Fanikisha classes, we witness something beautiful every single day. Mothers learning, growing, healing, laughing and daring to believe in a better future while little eyes watch with pride and admiration.

These are not just cute moments. They are moments of courage. Moments of sacrifice. Moments that quietly change generations.

To every mother choosing to rise despite the odds, thank you for showing your children what strength wrapped in love looks like. 🌸

Because when a mother is empowered, a family changes. And when families change, communities rise.

Happy Mother’s Month from Kianda Foundation.

In 2026, medical science is at its peak, but for 8 out of 10 rural families, it’s still out of reach. 💔

When the cost of a consultation equals two days of manual labor, "preventative care" becomes a luxury no one can afford. Families wait until a cough becomes a crisis because the price of entry is too high.

At the Kianda Foundation, we believe the "Last Mile" of healthcare should be free.

That’s why our Kimlea Clinic doctors take the treatment directly to the school desk. Through our Children’s Health Program (CHEP), we’ve removed the price tag for over 4,000 children.

$0 Consultation fees.

$0 Medication costs.

100% Focus on the future.

Access is the cure. Stand with us this World Health Day.

“Give to gain” is this year’s Women’s Month theme, and it speaks deeply to the reality of our mothers and women everywhere.

They give their time, energy, emotions, and sometimes everything they have, so that their families can gain stability, education, and hope. From early mornings to late nights, their sacrifice is the foundation on which homes are built.

Across Africa, women carry the invisible weight of unpaid care work and still continue to show up every single day with strength and love.

But giving should not only be one sided.

Through our Fanikisha Program, we are creating spaces where women not only give but also gain. We equip them with practical skills in business development, financial management, and cookery, helping them turn small beginnings into sustainable income, dignity, and independence.

This Women’s Month, we honor every mother and every woman who gives quietly and tirelessly. And we recommit to building a world where their giving is matched with opportunity to grow, thrive, and succeed.

They are our mothers, sisters, leaders, mentors, dreamers, and builders of tomorrow.

They carry families, nurture communities, lead businesses, shape ideas, and quietly change the world every single day.

They are the reason we exist. Happy International Women's Day to every woman who dares to dream and write a different story. We see you ! 🥳👸
