At FEMNET, we believe rest is an essential act of self-love and a cornerstone of feminist practice. This week, we are choosing to pause, recharge, and refocus.

Our offices and social media platforms will be quiet from 17–21 August 2026 as we make space to rest and restore.

We’ll be back and ready to reconnect on Monday, 24 August, 2026. 💛

Shaping Kenya’s Digital Future: Inclusion, Opportunities & Responsible Innovation
As Kenya’s digital transformation continues to accelerate, who is being left behind? How can young people and women benefit from the growing digital economy? And how can we embrace AI and emerging technologies while protecting our digital rights, privacy and security?
Join us for a timely conversation bringing together CSOs, youth and women-led organisations, digital rights actors, technology and innovation stakeholders, government, academia, private sector and development partners to explore these questions and identify practical actions for Kenya’s digital future.

Phase Two of turns to the quieter costs of legal work: the care women carry long after hours, and the safety they must weigh before they ever speak. These are the burdens that rarely appear on a CV, yet they shape who remains in the profession and who is quietly pushed out of it.

Today, we share the story of Fortunate Chilenje, a Zimbabwean human rights lawyer whose work has taken her from the prosecutor's office to the frontlines of environmental justice. She challenges some of the most powerful actors in the region on behalf of communities with the least power of all, all while navigating the "care tax"—the invisible labor that defines so much of a woman's experience in law.

In the clip below, Fortunate shares why the legal profession can no longer afford to be quiet about these systemic issues.

Across our breakout sessions, participants are engaging in rich conversations on:

With every stitch, every thread, and every movement of their hands, African women have always been weaving more than fabric—they have been weaving economies, communities, memories, and futures.

At the , weaving became a powerful symbol of feminist care: the often-unseen labour that sustains our societies, the knowledge passed from one generation to another, and the collective hands that hold our communities together.

During the Intergenerational Roundtable and Collective Harvest: African feminist memory, political economy and futures, we gathered the threads of wisdom from past generations while imagining new pathways forward.

From ancestral knowledge to African feminist economic thought, we continue to weave a future where care is valued, women’s contributions are recognized, and economies are transformed to serve people and planet.

Because the future is not simply created—it is woven together. 🪡✨
