Financial inclusion fueling sustainable farming:
On 4th July 2026 at Muambani , Catholic Diocese of Wote a Basegroup proved resilience from small acts of saving and investing through launching the uptake of climate smart farming.
When Muambani Basegroup joined Household Investment and Saving Activity (HISA) program in 2025 they had a vision of having secure sources of food through kitchen gardening/sustainable farming for all 15 members.
On 4/07/2026 that dream was realized by initiating the first kitchen garden as a starting point for the entire Basegroup.
This was made possible through their monthly HISA meetings with a saving of as low as Ksh 100.
Due to the geographical area being semi arid,the Basegroup had to think of doing things in a smart manner in alleviating food insecurity and high cost of basic household needs.
This is a testament that we like minded people come together great things happen.

ACT OF CHARITY BY CWM KENYA BASEGROUP

Beauties in Grace Basegroup
Yesterday 18/04/2026 Beauties in Grace Basegroup took an action based on faith CWM Kenya objectives (Charity work) at South B.
The action also included their monthly HISA meeting and Handing over of Membership certificates to Members.
Worth to note, as a planned action the Basegroup which consists of 40 members utilised their 2025 HISA profit of Ksh 64,000 to fund the action.
Impact: 30 vulnerable individuals were supported yesterday.The beneficiaries had different vulnerabilities i.e sickness, disabled children,accidents,widows,orphans among others.
Later,the group participated on HISA Activity where shares worth Ksh 18,000 were bought and 4 members accessed credit thereof.

We encourage other Basegroups to plan and undertake such action.This will go along way in impacting positively the underprivileged within our communities.
Thank you Clare for the leadership and the whole membership for a well thought-out action.

In a surprise, promised and anticipated visit, during the afternoon session we were privileged to welcome Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan His Excellency ArchBishop Hubertus van Megen in the presence of the resident Bishop His Lordship Rt Rev Joseph Mwongela,Bishop Catholic Diocese of Kitui.
Bishop Mwongela appreciated the work of CWM Kenya in forming the members for development of self, the church and community at large."if you destroy the environment ,you destroy self" he said.
In emphasis of the Bishops message to our participants, the Apostolic Nuncio gave a chronology of emergence and critical role played by movement like CWM Kenya,reminding participants of the communist Karl Max. Asserting the teachings of the encyclical Rerum Novarum (by Pope Leo XIII) he said " when there is social justice for nature,we too have justice for ourselves".
Connecting the teachings of Pope Francis in his letter to the church "Laudato Si' " the Apostolic Nuncio over ephasises that "if we destroy environment today,we compromise future generations"
