The journey to empowering communities continues, with small-scale entrepreneurs being an important part of our impact mission.

The business training classes conducted in partnership with the Institute for Small Business Initiatives are continuing successfully.

Cohort 2 classes resumed on 13th May 2026, bringing together entrepreneurs eager to grow and strengthen their businesses.

The sessions were highly interactive, impactful and life-changing. The topics covered related directly to the participants’ everyday business experiences and challenges.

There were many questions, concerns and dilemmas shared during the discussions, creating a rich learning environment for everyone involved.

By the end of the sessions, participants left satisfied, with their questions answered and renewed confidence to tackle the challenges facing their businesses head-on.

The training continues to equip entrepreneurs with practical knowledge, skills and motivation to build sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Today marked the second class of Cohort 1 of the 2026 Business Training Course for our table banking members, which commenced on 5th May 2026 under the TASK-ME Program, conducted in partnership with the Institute for Small Business Initiatives.
The training brings together the first group of Cohorts 1 and 2 of 2026 and marks the beginning of a transformative journey aimed at equipping small-scale entrepreneurs with practical business and financial management skills for sustainable growth.

The sessions are facilitated by trainers from ISBI, creating an engaging and interactive learning environment that encourage participation, experience sharing and learning.

The six-week training program is designed to strengthen the entrepreneurs’ capacity through a wide range of topics essential for business growth and personal development.

Even as we look forward to training a number of cohorts throughout the year, the commencement of the program marked an important milestone in UWEP-Africa’s continued commitment to empowering communities through entrepreneurship, skills development and sustainable economic growth.

UWEP-Africa continues to strengthen emotionally intelligent leadership through engaging and impactful Emotional Intelligence training sessions in Bungoma, conducted in collaboration with LifeSkills Coaching Consultants.

Through interactive discussions, self-reflection, and practical exercises, staff have deepened their understanding of self-awareness, empathy, communication, emotion regulation, and conflict management, which are essential skills for effective leadership, healthy relationships and meaningful community impact.

Our emotional intelligence training continued today with the second group, following the successful and engaging sessions with the first group.

Building on the strong start, these sessions will take participants through the same comprehensive journey, from understanding emotions and developing self-awareness to strengthening emotion regulation and applying emotional intelligence in relationships and leadership.
With the same energy, reflection and interactive approach-including discussions, role plays and practical exercises, the second group will also explore key areas such as why emotions matter, how to manage them effectively, navigating conflict, and improving communication.

This continuity ensures that all staff are equally equipped with the skills needed to enhance teamwork, make sound decisions and contribute to a more resilient and empowered communities.

As more staff join the training, the impact continues to expand, strengthening UWEP-Africa’s efforts to build a skilled, self-aware team that can effectively support communities and drive lasting, positive change.

Our Emotional Intelligence training is progressing well, with staff showing great enthusiasm and commitment to learning this vital skill - both in their professional and personal lives.

Today’s sessions focused on conflict management, adaptive communication and understanding different emotional personalities. The discussions were insightful and highly interactive, featuring personal reflection, evaluation exercises, and role plays that helped bring the concepts to life.

As the training continues, we remain focused on the communities we serve. Emotionally intelligent leadership empowers individuals to make sound decisions that positively impact their own lives and those around them. This is an essential skill for driving sustainable change, and it will play a key role in advancing social impact in Bungoma County and across the communities we work with.

Today, UWEP-Africa officially launched Emotional Intelligence training for its staff in Bungoma, in collaboration with LifeSkills Coaching Consultants.

This week-long program is designed to strengthen emotional intelligence at an individual level; enhancing decision-making, improving team dynamics and fostering a more resilient and effective organizational culture.

The training journey moves from understanding emotions to applying them in real life/work and leadership contexts, ensuring lasting impact across the organization.

Today marked the first session for the first group, focusing on understanding emotions, emotion regulation, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and emotional awareness in relationships (with a focus on empathy) among other topics.

These insights are building a strong foundation for more intentional, self-aware, and responsive engagement both within teams and in the communities we serve.

By investing in these critical skills, UWEP-Africa is equipping its staff to show up more effectively, strengthen relationships and drive meaningful change.

Empowered teams are key to building empowered communities and this training is a step forward in advancing a future that is resilient, inclusive and full of opportunity.
