African Youth, a Force for Peace: Understand, Engage and Transform.

Over the past few days, through the IYCS Africa 2026 Peace Forum, young people from across Africa have come together to reflect, learn, share experiences and renew our commitment to peace.

This Forum reminded us that peace is not someone elseโ€™s responsibility. It is ours too. As young people, we are not just the leaders of tomorrow; we are agents and actors of peace today.

We can choose dialogue instead of division, understanding instead of prejudice, solidarity instead of indifference, and action instead of silence.

To ๐™๐™‰๐˜ฟ๐™€๐™๐™Ž๐™๐˜ผ๐™‰๐˜ฟ is to seek the truth and understand the realities around us.
To ๐™€๐™‰๐™‚๐˜ผ๐™‚๐™€ is to participate, listen, dialogue and stand with others.
To ๐™๐™๐˜ผ๐™‰๐™Ž๐™๐™Š๐™๐™ˆ is to turn what we have learned into action that creates positive change.

On this International Day of Peace, let us take the lessons from the Peace Forum beyond the meeting room and into our communities. Let us become voices for peace, bridges between people, and ambassadors of hope wherever we are.

Dear Catholic Youth, peace needs us. Let us be the generation that chooses to understand, engage and transform.

Be an agent. Be an actor. Be a force for peace.

Over 3,000 young people from across West Africa have gathered for the Maiden West Africa Youth Days, under the inspiring theme: โ€œTake Courage: Catholic Youth as Actors and Agents of Peace and Hope in West Africa.โ€

We are proud to have IYCS Africa present, with our students from across West Africa actively participating in this significant gathering of faith, hope, courage, and solidarity.

Together, we are challenged to take courage, become agents of peace, and build a future filled with hope for our communities and our region.

Over 8 years of presence, accompaniment, and dedicated service, IYCS Africa, JECI Afrique gives thanks for the ministry of ๐…๐ซ. ๐€๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ง๐ฒ ๐Œ๐š๐ค๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ž, who faithfully accompanied the Regional Office and the young people of the movement.

His listening ear, guidance, availability, and spiritual accompaniment have contributed significantly to the life and mission of IYCS Africa.
On the occasion of this handover, we express our deep gratitude to him for these years of fraternity, service, and commitment to African Catholic youth.

This August, IYCS Africa, JECI Afrique participated, alongside , in the 7th Youth in Action Regional Forum, held in Nairobi under the theme โ€œ๐ˆ ๐‹๐ž๐š๐ ๐๐ž๐š๐œ๐žโ€.

The forum brought together young leaders from several East African countries around a common goal: strengthening the contribution of young people to building more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable societies.
The Forum provided a space for learning, dialogue and experience sharing, particularly on peace, sustainable development, combating disinformation, advocacy and youth participation.
