Lakeview Estate Residents' Association (LERA)

Lakeview Estate Residents' Association (LERA) Welcome to our new page! Cars were frequently stolen at gun point within the estate boundaries.

In the late 1980’s, the estate suffered constant robberies – sometimes two to three per night with gangs coming from Kitisuru and Soweto almost at will, taking what they wanted and leaving when they felt like it. Piles of smouldering rubbish along the roadsides were the norm, few of the street lamps worked and the Nairobi City Council leaking water pipes went un-repaired for months. A group of res

idents conceived the idea of an association to promote security and to maintain common services on the estate. The Association would also attempt to improve the community spirit for the benefit of the residents. The Lakeview Estate Residents’ Association (LERA) was established by a large majority vote at a meeting of residents held at PLANNING House on the 15 th of November 1993. The Association is legally registered and is a full member of KARA, the Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations.
