My AIESEC experience has been one where I've constantly challenged myself to get out of my comfort zone. I've always had the urge to apply for higher roles to bring out the leadership potential in me.
One main thing; The confidence to Lead
My AIESEC journey started in 2022 May when I got to do this application after a referral by my friend to AIESEC. I did an interview, which was bizarre to me doing an interview, dressing up and getting a panel to ask questions 😂. I got selected as the Grants manager in FLA and served there till October. During this time, I met my first buddies in AIESEC, Lorna Kiriga, Austine and our VP Brian. This was a time Igot to understand what leadership entails. What commitment, dedication and teamwork actually means. I got to learn Organizational skills, time management, presentation skills and so much more.
I later applied to be VP FLA, but didn't get to make it to the cut. Luckily, met people who took me through this period and remind me of my Why in AIESEC.
Later in 2023, I got to join UAR as the Alumni Engagement Manager and this was quite a fulfilling role. I got to understand the dynamics of alumnis, what they really want and how we can engage them successfully.
Over my time in AIESEC in JKUAT, I made so many connections and life long friends who I cherish dearly.
Dinners for me were always a moment to look forward to. Especially winning the OCP of the Year Award and FLA outstanding member during the AIESEC in JKUAT 2023 dinner.
The highlight of my AIESEC experience was being selected as the Conference Committee member for Global Village at the YSF Abu Dhabi, 2023.
This was one for the books. Getting to plan and run an event that brought together diverse cultures and backgrounds to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures was quite the experience. I got to plan things in an international level with a team if great individuals from AIESEC in UAE.
Having different embassies and Business councils sponsoring events to the arrangement of the Global Village evening was quite lovely.
The conference was a major success with the main focus being SDG 11 and 17.
I made many friends from different countries whom we still connect to this day. I learnt alot from their cultures and countries.
The conference had an attendance of 450 Youth from all over the world.
Try it! Apply! Apply! You won't regret this decision. Be part of change makers and be part of Youth who have a voice at the table.
You will meet amazing connections from all over and it's the best way to travel the world.
