What a beautiful and inspiring Saturday it was at the Community Sports Festival held at Chaminade Grounds, Mukuru kwa Njenga!

We were honored to participate as vendors in this amazing event organized by Vision Changers Kenya together with IPOA, Hope Kwa Vijana Mtaani, NCIC, and the Social Justice Center. The day was full of fun, energy, and talent as youths competed in chess, table tennis, sack races, relays, tug of war, volleyball, soccer and more. Winners were celebrated and the whole community felt alive.

Being our first time taking part in this festival, we learnt so much from the programs and dialogue sessions. What touched the most was how perfectly our missions align, using sports, counseling, and empowerment to restore hope and transform the lives of young people in marginalized communities.

I am truly humbled by the support shown to our initiative by Vision Changers Kenya and IPOA through the purchase of our balls. Your support encourages us to keep going and to continue believing in the potential of our youths.

"590 Million People Could Live in Extreme Poverty by 2030!"
According to the United Nations 2024 SDGs Report, this alarming statistic will become our reality if we don’t act now.
At Mukuru Talent Share, we believe the antidote to poverty isn’t charity. It’s opportunity. Rooted in the informal settlement of Mukuru, Nairobi, we are taking bold grassroots steps to achieve SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
Here’s what we’re doing:
1. Empowering Youth and Women:
We train youth and young mothers in ball-making and entrepreneurial skills using locally sourced, eco-friendly materials. This is not just a project, it’s a lifeline for many who’ve been excluded from formal economic systems.
2. Sport for Development:
Through community football leagues and wellness sessions, we address mental health, drug abuse, and unemployment which are key drivers of generational poverty. Sport becomes a tool for healing, connection, and discipline.
3. Income-Generating Ventures:
From every handcrafted ball sold, income flows directly to youth and women involved in production and distribution. This shifts them from passive dependents to active economic participants, breaking the cycle of poverty.
4. Grassroots-Led, Community-Driven:
We don’t impose solutions, we co-create them with the people most affected. The change is from within, and that’s what makes it sustainable.
⚽ Poverty ends where dignity begins... at the grassroots.
We’re not waiting for 2030 to come and go with broken promises. We’re acting now.

We were proud to participate in the MSME Trade Fair 2025, held on June 26th and 27th at KICC, organized by Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE) in partnership with key players in the MSME ecosystem. The event, aligned with World MSME Day, provided a powerful platform to celebrate and showcase innovation, resilience, and impact in the micro, small, and medium enterprise sector.

💼 At Mukuru Kicks, we believe in local solutions for global challenges — and this event reinforced the importance of collaboration, creativity, and community in growing sustainable businesses.

A day to reconnect!!!!!!
Last evening of 13th June, our team had the privilege of attending the Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship alumni meet-up in Nairobi — a powerful gathering of entrepreneurs from across different cohorts, coming together to share lessons, progress, and the path forward.
It was inspiring to reconnect with fellow changemakers and meet the program facilitators who flew in from Canada. Even more special was the chance to showcase our handmade soccer balls, a product born out of our mission at Mukuru Talent Share — to empower youth through sports, skill-building, and income-generating opportunities.
Every stitch in that ball represents hope, resilience, and the talent within our communities. Here's to more impact, more innovation, and more collaboration!

Today while celebrating worlds football day, Mukuru Talent FC emerged champions at the Inter-County Football for the Goals Tournament held at the University of Nairobi! 💙
But our impact went far beyond the pitch.
As we played to win, we also carried our mission of driving SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth. Our team proudly showcased the handcrafted footballs made by youth and women from Mukuru Slums—empowering our community through sports and income-generating activities.
This win is a celebration of talent, resilience, and purpose. Thank you to the organizers for creating a platform where sports meet social impact.
